Even the Raptor II's Void Signature System is not really a cloaking device. It's basically only a combination of the Exterminator's Chameleon system, the Null Signature System and ECM. It makes you hard to see and detect as long as you're not moving much, but it's far from actual cloaking, which doesn't exist in the BattleTech universe.

*facepalm* That's pretty much what they are talking about. Effectively going invisible regardless of how it is done. Either way it's an active camouflage unit that makes the mech very hard to spot electronically and visually. Plus with almost all instances of invisibility in video games, the faster something moves the easier it is to detect.

Plus the damn thing is so bulky you can't really put anything else of the mech. It'll only have enough room for a few lasers at max.

If you ask a scout about cloaking, then we wouldn't have threads like this. Being invisible is a scouts wet dream. The big guys get their guns, meds get mobility and scouts get to run away. That is hardly what I'd call compensation. Give them their due and worry about your stuff. Fairness does not just extend to favorite Mechs, you know?

@Adrienne
It is too late for that. Comstar will pay for the fall of the Star League. Beset from without and within they shall fall before us. Seyla.

well dober.. i have pretty much sympathy with the scouting role, and i always happily take it... i never missed to become technically invisible...some jammers, ecm´s what ever are way enough...and fast movement can be a killer for many pilots ... (when i´m scouting) i´m a scout, not a dagger swinging rouge...but i guess we already had this in about 1000000 threads on mwomercs.com already :D

see you on the fields of honour

well if an Urbanmech can wear a tophat I don't see why other mechs can't wear a cloak...

:lol:

+1. Stealth systems and ECM are fine once the game hits the appropriate time point but cloaking should stay in Star Trek.

The devs have stated that they wanted to stay as close to TT and canon rules as possible, hence no cloaking device... it's not canon. The Null Signature system is still many years away, based upon the fact that 1 real day = 1 in-game day, and the current year at time of launch is 3049. Hence, you'll have to wait approximately 10 real years for the Null signature system to be invented and mass produced.

The Null Signature system was produced in 2630 for the EXT-4D Exterminator. It is listed as LosTech or some family heirloom mech.
