When you see this icon Posted Image that should be the mech you are raining LRMs down on.

That is a the signal a mech has a NARC on it. No matter where it goes, no matter if it has another player targeting it or not. It IS targeted. It cant hide it cant run! The NARC lasts 20 seconds. Take advantage of it.

If you have a light NARCing for you be grateful. Take advantage and watch your damage SKY rocket. The payoff for a light NARCing is little to none. Yes they get xp/cb but its CRAP compared to the xp/cb they could be getting from out damaging your LRM boat.

NARC, its a good thing when its being shot from your team. Take advantage of it!

Iknorite! However when I usually see that icon it is usually 1,500m away from my slow boat of damage! :)

Since the light queue has been low of late, I've been dropping in a narc Jenner K. To be fair to any lrm boats I usual give a heads up to watch for narcs. In the heat of battle, if they're not looking for the icon, they might miss it.

I probably confuse the situation for focus fire though when I get a whole lance narced.

I disagree. I'll NARC a spider if 1) he has ECM, or 2) he's hanging out near the back of the lines. If a spider is mucking around with our fatties, best that everybody knows. Also - OP: Great post. My NARC Jenner nods approvingly.

I wont waste 50 LRM's on a Spider that can get to cover before I can put ordinance on skin. Thats just me.

While I love a good NARC while playing LRMs, it's not as simple as "Shoot the NARC'd guy".

That works on Caustic and mostly on Alpine.

But other maps you need to be cognizant of whether they are taking damage when you are firing.

Also, I do not waste LRMs on lights generally speaking (some exceptions apply), so if it's NARC'd I'll ignore.

Nor would I expect you to. I'm NARCing that spider because I'm telling you and everyone near it, HEY WATCH OUT FOR THIS ********. Especially if it has ECM.

They can just power down and NARC goes away. If they have JJ they should power down in mid-air to avoid any stragglers.

It's rediculously rare for me to ever LRM lights. I only do so if they are caught so far out in the open that they I can TAG them easily, and they have no chance to get to any cover.

I LRM anything with Narc+Tag on it whenever I can, but sometimes I'm not in a position to do that. Example: I'm not going to LRM something that's in a tunnel, or has some sort of roof above it. :)

You are correct. Though, a good NARC/TAG user isn't simply zooming in and dropping their payload on a target only to run away and leave you to your own devices. Good/great spotters stay in the area and tell their teammates which target to look at and how their missiles are landing. Not easy over chat but a must VOIP.

The way the MM works for PUG is, if you have NARC or TAG on your light, there will be no (okay, maybe one) LRM boats on your team.

The obvious problem is that when you see that symbol, its followed by another 5 to 6 in short order.

Remember we can only target 1 mech at a time, and the NARC only last for 30 seconds. NARC 1, then wait a little, then NARC another.

I got chewed out a bit by a jenner that narced an enemy on river city because I didn't drop all my LRMs....

Reasons why I don't.

1. I know the narc'd mech is behind cover.
2. 1200m away.
3. Closer targets I am tagging.

Actually, do NARC that damn ECM Spider. I will rain hellfire and missile perdition upon it while the getting is good and the stupid thing is visible.

Gets me some nice kills, too. I love dead scouts. Dead scouts don't sneak back later and stop me from shooting something else while I deal with him.

Narc users, this is for some of you who seem to miss this part, but.... ever think of Narc'n the current target of the LRM's instead of picking the mech closest to you and hoping the LRM mechs will drop their current target to switch to your narc'd guy behind rock?
