Especially since Clans despise mercenaries. To be generous about it.
Edit : And by the way, the Dark Caste doesn't really fulfill some of the criteria you threw at us, either. They're basically the rejects of clan society.

I really should read the books......
Is it true that after the word of blake crap and civil war supposedly everything is back into a "dark age" and all the mechs look like pieced together pieces of crap that belong more in hawken then a mechwarrior game?

No. A merc is a merc and Clans DON'T fancy them. Now if CW and REAL salvage ever made it into game then you could run a Merc using all Clan tech... but you have to earn it the hard way.

the best you can hope for is to become a garbage man, freebirth.

Especially in the early years of the invasion, they don't ally with non clan members. EVER.
They make the early Soviet Union look like a nice place to visit in comparison. They're Communist and they're Fascis (If that's possible, they do a good run at it.)
Serious.y, if you're Lone Wolf, you are not clan. Period. As for Mercenaries. They were technically supposed to execute them if they were captured. The Smoke Jaguars did in fact. The idea of using a merc for a clan member was not only illegal, but obscenely morally disgusting

Edit: The route is also a closely guarded secret known only to a very select few. Most of the jumpship crews only knew certain legs of the journey and were actually cycled onto and off of ships to prevent any one Clansman from being able to divulge the entire Exodus Road if he were captured.

No they don't. The clan owns the mech, not the individual for starters. The "Dark Caste" may own mechs, they're deserters and pirates. Typically freebirth, and certainly not considered clan.

Incorrect. There were bondsmen- who were captured Inner Sphere pilots that end up being adopted into a Clan at some level. And that wasn't even always warriors- there were plenty of IS warriors that washed out at their Trial of Position and never end up being more than a tech again, or even a lower caste.

The word you could use is RiStar. As Clans obsess on individual merit, Lone Wolf mentality is expected of Clan warriors.

And one became the leader of the Mary-Sue Clan. Then again Phelan Kell was true born.
