Overkill!

Would be nice for the immersion to be able to overkill a mech and make them completely explode. I understand people have reservations regarding performance on such an idea but there would be rules in place to keep it from overly happening and to keep the particle effects down.

1. A mech can only be overkilled on kill shots to either the center torso or the last leg component before death. The target would need to be hit with alot of damage at once to those components to initiate the animation. For example, a light gets hit with an AC20 to the CT when his armor is gone and has already sustained internal damage.

2. The explosion wouldn't be like a reactor going critical more like a slightly more potent explosion which completely vaporizes the CT and the head, leaving only the hips and legs to ragdoll around. For added effect send the arms flying off. The animation would give the person killed an idea of what killed him (PPCs and powerful ACs most likely) as well as give a satisfactory kill to the killer. If you want to go the extra mile, an overkill to a bulky heavy or assault mech would have a chance to leave a large hole in the mech's CT instead of just vaporizing it.

3. An overkill to the leg would be pretty simple. Can only be done on the mech's last leg before destruction and when overkilled the leg simply flies off. Makes sense and keeps it simple.

4. I would imagine effects wise an orange flash large enough to cover the mech followed by 2D bits of mech flying all over to cover up removing the CT, head, and arms.

Anyway I know it isn't something that should be priority but it would be a nice touch to add to player satisfaction or just something for more suicidal players to literally go out in a blaze of glory.

As long as there's no stackpoling, I'm all in for more interesting death animations. The current ragdolling is a bit lame unfortunately.

I'm all for stackpoling, even if it is just a show of a big steam cloud or whatever you can explain with lore magic physics.

Those huge explosions in MWLL just looked great, and MWO could use some more spectacle :)

come on now, stackpooling won me a few very key matches back in MW4 NBT league.

Where you could eject / suicide - explode and deal damage getting a kill then the server would register the eject.

Was useful for when you didn't have any weapons left.

I'd be all right with more eye candy death animations. Right now, an artillary strike is more interesting to watch than a mech going boom.

I'd never say no to more bling but honestly after all the good stuff that was removed from the game I don't see anything coming back, let alone new stuff being added.

Yeah I just miss the old MW2 explosions of mechs into confetti. Would be a nice touch but unless theres a demand for it its not a priority.

I'll arty a lone mech just for lulz... but that is beside the point.

Look up mwo ammo explosions on youtube and then watch mechs on slops and alpine rag doll in funny ways such as a commando sliding down the h10 alpine or a raven somersaulting while running full speed and dying at the same time.
