Disabling Cockpit Glass Not Working?
#1

1) Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Piranha Games\MechWarrior Online
2) Create a file in notepad named user.cfg with just this string:
gp_option_ShowCockpitGlass=0
3) launch MWO . . .
4) NOTHING HAPPENS . . . still have the cockpit glass (and it's horrible most of the time).
What am I doing wrong?

r_DepthOfField=0
r_HDRGrainAmount=0.0
gp_option_ShowCockpitGlass=0
Cockpit glass is disabled for me, depth of field is unnoticeable, but I'm still seeing silly film grain.

That might help out, but remember to be careful and double check with any such editing if you've never really done it before.

Chances are, it's not actually working on particular mechs.

And then go check that file. I bet it is called this.

All you need to do in that case is rename the file, delete the .txt extension, and of course Windows doesn't trust you and will popup with a warning about renaming the file, go ahead and rename it anyways. It needs to be User.cfg and nothing else.

Mine is just named "user". I tried changing it to "User.cfg" and it stopped working

Changed it back to "user" and it works fine again.

system.cfg
i had the same issue with it not working in user.cfg
once i put it into system config it worked and boosted my frames by disablibg cockpit glass
If it won't let you edit the file cut it from the folder and paste anywhere else on computer
then edit/save and repaste into MWO folder

This is most definitely an existing bug and not just the result of user error.

Also sometimes you have to close and delete the systemoverride.cfg and then restart. I have had a number of guys have not work until that file is deleted.

Create text file by right clicking on desk top,
rename to "user.cfg"
Open file
Paste your preferred cfg files inside
save file
place file inside Start>Local Disk>Program Files(x86)>Piranha Games
Once pasted, DO NOT close this yet, you aren't finished
on Win 7
Go to Start>Control Panel>Appearance and Personalization>Folder Options>View(the upper tab)>Uncheck "Hide extension for known file types"
Now open your Piranha Games folder, rename file from user.cfg.text to user.cfg press ok on saving file as new type.
Load up MWO and enjoy your new user.cfg
