Because saying the most important battle of Inner Sphere was fought on planet Bob sounds not as epic.

There is no planet more epic than Bob.

And the answer is... (at approx 28 seconds)

This guy has a heavy American accent (New York?) and is probably butchering the pronunciation of "Tukayyid."

Google translate detects "Tukayyid" as Hausa which is an African Language. Someone who speaks Hausa would probably be able to give you the most accurate pronunciation.

Americans butcher everything. They couldn't even pronounce Cao Cao right.

The little voice in my head always reads it as "Turkeyed"

A similar thing comes up with the Wookie homeworld, Kashyyyk, where two acceptable pronunciations are given: (/kəˈʃiːk/, which comes out to "kuh-SHEE-k", and is the "canonical" pronunciation used in Revenge of the Sith) or (/ˈkæʃɪk/, which comes out to "kah-shik", and is the pronunciation used in KOTOR).

So, it seems like the MechCommander guy's "took-ee-id", or something closer to "too-key-id" once one accounts for the accent, would probably be "most correct".

Isn't that supposed to be Surkairede?

I think that's after you agree to his apology.

Didn't want to respond until I got source material, but:

Surkai

Surkai is the rite of forgiveness. When two parties disagree, or when one offends the other, Clan society expects the opponents to undergo surkai. As a matter of honor, the offending party admits his wrongdoing and requests punishment. The Clan views those who do not request surkai as a divisive influence and finds another way to deal with such members. Actions too severe to be excused by surkai result in a Trial of Grievance.

Surkairede

Surkairede, the Rede of Forgiveness, is the honor-bound oath associated with surkai. It binds two parties and ensures that the offender suffers no further disgrace from the offense once he or she accepts punishment.

So I think the proper term is indeed surkai, and when the agreement would be referred to as the surkairede.
