I'm just surprised they're going with burst shot for the supposed "normal" autocannons for the clans. I was expecting the LB to fire single, large shells like IS autocannons.

The stats between the three types of Clan autocannons really don't differ that much. It just depends if you want buckshot, or if you want jams or not between a Clan AC vs a Clan Ultra-AC.

Why is anyone surprised they're going burst instead of the single slug similar to the IS version? If they went with the slug version, why would anyone ever use the clan UACs when they could just go with LBX/slug ammo?

I don't understand how between reload time, ammo load and hit points one cannot easily create a difference between the AC-10 and LBX. I just don't buy it.

The answer is you could. Easily. There's plenty of stats that could be tweaked that would make the AC/10 a worthy alternative.

The reason is because PGI, for years of time to do so, didn't have the capacity to build alt-fire modes into weapons. Not for lack of time or because it was impossible, but merely because they didn't have the competent coders and developers to manage it.

Years. They had years. And it's about a week to Clan-day and they're not going to have half the AC's finished, or targeting computers for their golden goose egg of a Clan release.

That's not even minimally viable.

Which is stupid, cause LBX were Cluster & Slugs back on the 2900s! Using an AC10 is a choice of the pocket book not the usefulness.

Pocket books have all but become irrelevant these days. If they were OP, people would still buy them by the truck load...since R&R is not in game, that "pocket book" analogy makes far less sense these days. When people have 40+ mechs that are fully kitted out, a few 100k cbills is literally pocket change for a weapon change.
