With the constant stream of patches and hotfixes, this game is always changing and it's hard to know exactly how a given item or mechanic functions at any given time. Is there anywhere we can go to find up-to-date info on how things work?

Usually patch notes. Or ask in the forums / here.

Don't worry about it and just be puzzled or pleasantly surprised!

Example: I had no idea they'd improved Medium Pulse lasers... i just thought i had become f'n phenomenal with my 3xMLs + 3xMPLs Blackjack overnight, jumping from 300 damage matches to 500 damage matches overnight.

ROFL.

Yeah, I'm aware of the patch notes; I just hoped there was a better way than scouring the last twenty notes for anything that would be relevant to me, or that I read five months ago and forgot because it wasn't relevant, but is now important because I'm driving a new 'mech. For instance, I just started using Narc; it would be nice to have a place I could go to and read, "here's how Narc currently works," rather than reading every note in case it mentioned a change.

Oh well. Thanks for the response. :(

Command Chair posts are great for keeping up to date on most things as they happen.

Smurfy's reference page is kept pretty up to date with details on mechs and weapons

http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/

Not sure how up to date this is http://mwo.gamepedia.com/Main_Page but it's got some articles that explain game mechanics.

Smurfy is the best resource. The gamepedia articles are slow to update, however their mechanics are spot on.

Smurfy is your #1 source for raw data (for example when they changed Medium pulse lasers, exactly how much did range and DPS change?) but when it comes to overall balance (are medium pulse lasers worth it after the buff?) that's a much more nuanced issue and needs forum discussion and will always be rather ambiguous.

Sure, that's fine. It's a running account of the current facts that I'm looking for, and I guess Smurfy's, gamepedia and the patch/dev notes are the closest we've got. Thanks.

And don't forget about this as well: http://www.mwomercs.com/theplan This shows the progress in evolving the game into a better game (How long Community Warfare would take, etc).

well according to "the plan" clans are at 50% as of this post. Aren't the clan mechs coming out the 17th?

Have you ever done all of your work just before the deadline? It's like that.

It probably needs updating.

So its probably not a reliable source for "showing the progress in evolving the game into a better game (How long Community Warfare would take, etc). " ?

"The Plan" is updated once a month, whenever Bryan does it.

It's more of a "This is what we're working on" list, not a "We are exactly 10 lines away from CW" kinda thing. Take the %'s as a very ballpark estimate.

The first batch is coming out this 17th. However, the "clans" section in there, is for CW purposes, such as territories, drop ships, organizational structure, rank insignias ... etc.

Helmer's dev tracker is another great source for info:
http://mwomercs.com/...eloper-tracker/

For the last 2 years he's been providing a weekly recap of Dev tweets and forum posts

This makes more sense, thanks.
