My only beef is that 1/2 ton ammo seems to occupy same amount of crit space as full ton. It'd be nice to split a crit slot with half SRM and half AC ammo, etc.. Of course, I never did try to equip a 1/2 ton ammo so maybe I'm assuming wrong?

You assume correctly, but this is how the game works. As far as I'm aware there's nothing half-crit in the tabletop game. 1 crit slot is as small as it gets.

Dosnt the king crab split its ballistic crits?

Only due to a peculiarity of the design system. As the King Crab still has its lower arm/hand actuators, an AC20 doesn't fit under normal rules, so the 'house ruled' it in the original TRO.

It was quite normal for 'quirks' on those early mech (eg. The Javelin specifically has a +1 Piloting penalty listed in its original appearance!)

The King Crab's split crits are still full crits. They just put a couple of crit slots in the side torso instead of the hand. It doesn't give them half a slot.

Well this was funny...

Sorry, should have clarified that... I meant in addition. AMS + Ton of Ammo + Half Ton = 2t, which I find easier to squeeze in somewhere than AMS + 2 Tons Ammo = 2.5t

The half ton doesn't actually give half ammo. The U-AC/20, for example, gives 35 rounds for a ton, but only 15 for half a ton.

You should be posting it in the appropriate forum... although that doesn't sound right (the math and the weapon you're referring to).

You were never able to split crits and the ONLY purpose of this feature is to get that last .5 tons to do something useful instead of a minor engine upgrade or armor tweak. .5 tons of ammo will probably be more useful than adding just 1 Small Laser for instance...

This is really a nice new feature. One of the best things in UI2.0 I've seen lately. :)

How much is in a half ton for odd numbered ammo, like AC/20(7) or AC/10(15) etc.? Rounding up or down?

Logically it'd add everything up and round down on the total, but with PGI, anything's possible.

The math adds up. Remember Clan ACs are burst fire instead of single shot. 5 rounds per pull of the trigger = 7 trigger pulls per ton, or 3 trigger pulls per half ton. This lines up with the Inner Sphere AC/20 with 7 shots per ton.

It rounds down, so taking two half tons is less efficient than a full ton.

Makes sense to me. If it rounded up, then two half ton ammo packs would me more ammo than one regular ton.

would be two crits, though.
