been a BT fan for almost 30 years, heard of but never seen protomechs until now
stupidest thing i'v ever seen.
for me, battletech lore ends on dec 31st, 2059 - i never really knew what happens after then, and after seeing protomechs i especially don't want to know

They'd need a serious redesign from what I've seen, and I mean with how they look, but I'm sure it's quite possible to have them re-imagined to look way better by the devs.
And if they make it into MWO, I'd consider having them as base assets, equivalents of either stationary or mobile turrets, the same for tanks to at least have more assets available to bring more to maps; and I'd really love to have some sort of tank present in MWO.

It's a little too early in the timeline to be talking about Protomechs ingame. Also, given PGI's bias towards the Inner Sphere, I can't imagine them being anything but glorified cannon fodder.

I hate Protos, they was broken for a long time and it took them a long time to actually fix the things. I remember when they could fall from high up(which would have cause hefty damage) and with a normal roll of the dice and they would suffer no damage at all.
they had been band from my gaming group for a reason and to this day they still are.

Voted no. First and foremost, it's too early in the current timeline. First, Protos are 3060 (the usable ones are 3070) and we are currently around 3051 (see Night Gyr etc.). 3060 would bring along a bu††load of new Mechs, so I reckon people would rather want way more of those than Protos. Jumping to 3060 it would also heavily mix IS Tech and Clantech into the same bowl (e.g. Hauptmann as an IS Omni) and the "balance" (yes, I know, it's never good enough) between the fractions is based on the the clear separation of IS and Clan Tech features (range vs. heat, quirks, tonnage and slots of weapons etc.).
Secondly, I would prefer more (moving) vehicles appearing on the battlefield. If only as moving objects that have an slight influence on the battle itself (it would be a bad idea to have a "dogfight" with another mech on river city just behind the Dropship as it launches it's engines and basically fries you away before taking off). Again, a tousand things to happen before the Protos happen.
And last but not least: What is the Proto MO to begin with? If you look at the (very) Light Mechs, their most valuable asset is speed, maneuverability and then speed again. We are talking Locusts here for example. Protos are actualy slower than most of th Mechs. They range from 50 - 65 kp/h and thats Assault speed (slow Assault speed that is). Sitting in a Proto, with todays DakkaDakka gameplay and Alphastrike shots, you are a slow, weak weaponised and even weaker armored sitting duck target. Then there is the point of how Protos are organized as a unit. Protos are equal to Elementals: 5 Elementals/Protos equal 1 Mech (aka "Point") and 5 of these form a Star (25 Elementals/Protos. So imagine the Matchmaker having to find 5 Protos for every Mech and also mactch the Tiers of those additional players as well. And remeber, those Protos would have to be highly coordinated, as it is the only halfway succsessfull MO for them to swarm over a Mech and bring it down. I consider you would need at least a Star (25 Protos) to really make a difference.
In conclusion, I see many things speaking against it and really not very much for introducing Protos. Protos kinda feel like the "Wunderwaffen" of the Second World War. They came way too late, they were very complicated for the time, they could not be used on a strategic level and only very rarely successfully on a tactical level. And they ended up being a big myth and technological steroids for latter developements.

We're mid-3060's right now. FedCom Civil War era.
Elementals will be fine though. Thank you.

Not likely to be viable in game. According to the fluff, a group was equivalent to one mech. Also, the first protomechs won't even hit the field until 3060. In MWO it's 3049....

Protomechs effective in big numbers because they have puny firepower.
