Below is my own quote from the Clan Trial feedback questionnaire from the 'Other Comments' question. I'm wondering if I am alone in my thinking when it comes to the current way PGI is handling [or handing out like candy] the Clan Targeting Computer. What do you fine people think?
One thing I feel you've stepped on is the rarity of the Targeting Computer. I strongly feel that only Mechs that have access to the Targeting Computer should have the option to mount one. Not only that, but the weight and tonnage of the Targeting Computer should be directly tied to the tonnage of direct fire weaponry linked to it. The way you have set it up, every Mech in the game should take a Mk. I Targeting Computer, even if their only direct fire weaponry is a single Machine Gun. The progress is incremental, so it feels like taking a Targeting Computer is akin to taking an Active Probe. The heavier Targeting Computers have diminishing returns past the Mk. I.
And I'm saying all of this as a person who bought a Dire Wolf, Stormcrow and Summoner a la carte. Only my Summoner would benefit if you made this change, but I think it is the right course of action for you to take, or Targeting Computers will become a trivial add-on.

Targeting Computer Availability... What Is Your Take?

The targeting computer only works on Lasers and high caliber ballistics and does not work with Machine guns and Missiles. As for any chassis using it, if they can slot it in, why not? Clan builds are so tight that squeezing that thing in there is rough and sometimes near impossible. With their build design it makes a TC become a weapon in size and crit space.
The way they have it now works, each Mark rank requires 1 ton+1crit. Now, down the road if the Clan mechs are forced to use one in order to compete, then yeah nerfing would be good, but lets at least try it before hitting it with a nerf bat.

They won't be active until the next patch after the Clan release.

I get that they can't model the to hit bonus exactly, but they should have left the 1 ton 1 crit computer for every 5 tons of weaponry affected. As it is now, letting all weapons benefit from a 1 ton 1 crit item is too permissive.

It sure seems like something easy to code. IF the weapon weight is greater than 5, THEN no targ comp mk. 1.

It just states ballistic increases range, and increased crit rates.
That's great for machine guns / flamers / lbxs.
