Many did master their clan mechs - there's no reason not to dump your GXP on them on the test server, after all, and us long time player sorts have boatloads of otherwise worthless GXP.

So you're saying they feel balanced with full pilot trees? A lot of people are dodging the question here. :)

Even better, then PGI can give everyone 50,000 GPXspacebucks to spend freely and test it. Tons of seasoned MMO studios give out free gear/Credits on test servers to properly test PvP aspects before they go live.

Sell all the XL engines and mechs you won't be using for the test.

No lasting effects, and you can get a few million C-Bills.

I sold off all my IS mechs and gear on the test server minus my Hero mechs for testing. I had more than enough to do whatever i wanted on the test server with configurations.

So you also tested clan mechs with full pilot exp but your first comment was "come back in a month" instead of providing the actual feedback requested in the original post. Now this is seriously starting to sound like what I had feared... a clear advantage the "competitive community" wants to enjoy in order to justify an expensive purchase they otherwise wouldn't have given to PGI if there wasn't a major incentive involved.

You're reaching man. You have an answer that you already want to see, and are trying to get someone to say it. I sold my items so I wouldn't have problems building. That's it. I didn't do it for an edge. It was to test and to have fun. I was using the test server so I could preview the crap i spent money on. I used it like a filthy 'insert whatever here'.

Yes.

Bishop Steiner posted an excellent set of observations about it here: http://mwomercs.com/...e-the-invasion/

In short, though, the differences in the way the weapons systems and customizations work serves very well to balance out IS and Clans. DOT is substantially inferior to front loaded (and pinpoint) damage, and this difference is highly noticable in game play. Clan mechs require much more face time to do their potential damage, while IS mechs can strike and twist immediately.

Clan mechs are stronger at range, with a wider selection of long range weaponry, while IS mechs can lay out the hurt up close. An AC40 Jag for instance doesn't care about clan mechs at all... their need to remain on target to push out their damage gives him plenty of time to drop 40pts right where he wants it, then continue twisting to spread incoming damage around.

Even at range IS mechs have the advantage of being able to move from cover and back in very quickly (be it poptarting or ridgehumping or whatever) where Clan mechs can't really manage that well at all in comparison.

On paper, Clan mechs spank IS mechs left right and center. In play, at least in my experience on the PTR, IS pilots had no trouble at all holding their own and the top teir mechs/pilots still smashed face readily.

No reaching at all. I provided options in my wording for testers to say "Yeah I was tricked out and they felt fine vs IS mechs" or "IS mechs definitely gonna get stomped when clanners get pilot exp flushed out."

The indifference and dodging the point from several posters including yourself is what raised alarm bells and red flags. That's a third point I even accounted for in subsequent posts with a growing suspicion the competitive community doesn't want it discussed for fear PGI cripples their advantage before it becomes reality. :)

I've read that. It doesn't mention Clan mech balance with full pilot trees. So far all the talk about IS vs. Clan involves stock clan mechs. Hence, this thread was born to question it.

And hence the rest of my post. That thread didn't really address the things the pilot trees would impact anyways.

The reality is that many pilots HAD mastered their mechs before dropping in them. Why not, when you can do so with impunity? All we needed was GXP or MC on their account before hand and it was trivial to do.

Lol
what did you expect Bishop?

People fear change and anything new. Hence all the crying :)

A lot of people would rather we all have the same mech, with the same weapons, and RNG damage. All in the name of a nice fluffy even playing field for everyone, where nobody's feelings can get hurt

Pgi will make a Map with Padded walls and Marshmallow rocks :X to go with that lol
