so i was thinking recently that ghost heast inst rediculous enough then i came here and read alot of posts of people complaining about them adding small lasers and medium lasers to the same pool for ghost heat.

and i thought to myself that sense its introduction ghost heat has been such a consistently unpopular game mechanic, that maybe they should add an even worse mechanic so that people remember ghost heat fondly

so here is my idea, i call it "spectre heat".

now spectre heat works similar to ghost heat, but it is based on what your team mates have fired.

for example, if you fire 2 PPC on group fire, you are find. but if one of your team mates fires 2 ppc then less thant .5 seconds later you fire your two ppc, you will generate ghost heat as if you had just fired 5 ppc!

this way it forces more variety of weapons into the match, if for example the best load out is a victor with 2 ppc and 2 AC 5, then only a few people will be able to do that.

also it would help balance LRM heavy teams because if a team brings 4 stalkers and they all fire 60 LRM at once, they would all generate ghost heat on the following formula- "60x4=240/20=12" now all 4 stalkers would EACH count as having fired 12 LRM 20 and would over heat and die.

i think this could be a well balanced mechanic that fixes alot of the complaints about boating and ghost heat.

We also need phantom heat, too.

Why in Kerensky's name should I be penalized for what a bunch of pugs bring? How does what they fire 500m from me have ANYTHING to do with my mech?

Why in Kerensky's name should a single weapon be penalized for what is mounted on another part of my mech? How does what fires on the other side of my mech have ANYTHING to do with generating extra heat from nothing?

Phantom heat will go one step further than spectre heat and also factor in the weapons fired by the enemy!

Enter people taking this seriously.

Though, really, really don't give PGI ideas. I would not be surprised in the slightest if this came up as a possible design feature in one of their meetings... ;)

Didn't PGI create a new ghost mechanic already - lets not help em with anymore ideas.

Finally there is the Spirit Heat, which takes account of all the weapons fired within the month.

Next up is poltergeist heat. It stacks with phantom, spectre and ghost heat, but ALSO factors in weapons fired in completely different matches.

Also recommend a mech shutdown due to short-circuit.

Apply a power drain number to weapons when fired, and a maximum power output of your mech. Exceed the power output and short out. (In addition to Heat, Ghost Heat, and Spectre heat.)

Wait, that's it!

GREMLINS!

They can be attracted to massed weapons the way Silverfish are attracted to massed books, and they decrease the damage dealt by your weapons in proportion to how many of each you have, via sabotage!

How does such an idea even seem remotely sane to you?

I thought that actually said spectator heat, and the more people spectating you the more heat you have. That makes about as much sense.

It doesn't. The OP made this as a joke thread.

Ghost Heat - Lowers single-volley group fire.
Spectre Heat - Lowers single-team copycat loadouts.
Phantom Heat - Lowers cross-team copycat loadouts.

But what about cross-match copycat loadouts? We need...

...Shadow Heat - Whenever anyone in a live match anywhere fires a weapon it counts against a global (literally) limit.

Ghost heat at least could be explained mechanically.

i wasnt joking when i made this post, i think that current ghost heat mechanics arent limiting game play enough yet, in beta before ghost heat there were many build options but not there is only several because of ghost heat,

i think that may be too many
