In the second Clan beta it was evident to me that clan ultra autocannon characteristics are significantly different from what we are used to with IS tech.

A Clan Ultra-Autocannon 20(CUAC-20) will fire five rounds in a burst. Apparently each round does four points of damage if it hits (5X4=20). The burst grouping has a similar spread your might expect from a 'shotgun' LBX, only the pellets fire sequentially rather than all at once. Similarly the CUAC-2 fires two rounds at one damage each. The CUAC-5 fires a burst of two 2.5 damage rounds. If memory serves, the CUAC-10 fires four rounds at 2.5 damage/round.

I don't think the targeting computers worked I the test but there was variance noticed when one was equipped, so that rumor may have been left over from the first beta session. I suspect the targeting computer may tighten the grouping of the ultra-autocannons, such that a distant target within range is more likely to actually be hit rather than seeing your rounds strike all around it.

These observations will, I think, be critical when choosing our clan ballistic loadouts. A single-shot clan auto-cannon may be more desirable now than an autocannon version.

what about the clan ac5? it was burst fire as-well when I tested it, and it went from 60 to 56 rounds in a single shot so it's a 4 round burst. it does 5 damage, so does that mean that each pellet does 1.25 damage???

From the Ultras I used, I found the shots to fire in a straight line, with the only adjustments being from turning. (Noteworthy in Warhawk, Dire Wolf, Timber Wolf, and a few others, if you 'turn' you 'raise up' and then 'lower' when you stop, do this while firing will cause spread during fire. Just move straight and your shots are straight.)

I always took out the targeting computers.

That is my guess, yes. Anothr thing to factor when deciding load-out is that the number of rounds per ton has to be divided by the number of rounds in a burst. So those relatively huge counts in a ton of UAC-20 ammo isn't so wonderful after all.

That was my experience early in the day. Late in the day the spread was much more evident. My four UAC-5/two UAC2 DWF-B went from a seven hundred damage match down to a 190 damage match at the end of the day and my marksmanship was my marksmanship both times. Teams were similar. One difference was that I swapped a CUAC-5 to a CUAC-2 to avoid a heat spike. Should not have made that large a difference.

@Koniving Thinking about it I don't believe my mouse sensitivity was set properly on the test serve configuration screen. It might be that by the end of the session my aim was simply less steady.

Targetting computers are not scheduled to come online until the following patch, so afaik they were not functional in the Clan PTS buids either.

I'm actually really excited for the targeting comps and the command consoles. I'm hoping they can add something new and interesting to the game, especially when building long range snipers.
