Recently got a copy of this and am lost on how to start installing and patching. Tried Regisering at the MW2 Forum but it has a security question to prevent spambots that I do not have the answer to.

I checked the Versions Guide and do not see the one I purchased. It is a red disk, both it and the booklet say it has Win95 and DOS versions on it, disk also says "Offered only with Thrustmaster X-Fighter Joystick in Sam's Club Stores." Running Vista 32 bit, I was thinking of trying the Win95 one first but even with that I know I still need a patch and do not know where to start of the methods offered here.

Anyone have more information on this?

It's supported through some mods, but might be considered lostech. Which version did you get. Windows or dos. It's going to make a difference. I have all the games.. Including the old RPGs... Need to spend time in fits for the old ones.

I am curious toward the answer on this - as I have been having trouble getting mine running as well (though I believe that is more my current PC having an irrational dislike of emulators)

Getting the doors ones running isn't too bad. For the Windows versions with hardware acceleration you need to did up graves for some driver wrappers. At least I did last time. Sigh I guess I know what I'm doing this weekend.

Go to G.O.G - Good Old Games they have it for cheap.
I've installed it and it's running on my WIN8 Box.

Got it already, the one I got from Amazon recently has both Win95 and DOS according to the instruction booklet.

If you check the links in my OP, the forums is an ACTIVE MW2 dedicated forum for all three versions, original, GBL and Mercs. I just cannot Register because of the security question, it asks for the maximum head armor value in MW2 and I do not know what it is offhand, failed to guess twice already. The forum has posts as recent as last month.

The answer is 9.

The maximum head armor for any mech in Battletech has always been 9. MWO is the only game i know that has doubled those values.

GOG does not currently sell any of the MechWarrior games.

Currently following the MechVM instructions with the original version of Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries (oh man this disc is old. Bought it when it was in the big box at Fred Meyer for $59.99 back in 96 or something. Had to cut the grass for a month to save enough ;)).

And...

Works fine. I have to run it in dosbox to get the missions to work, but the game runs fine.
