So What Exactly Does The Hand Actuator Do?

Seems like only the lower arm actuator actually gives any benefit. Does the hand do something (like more turn speed) or is it just for fancies?

On my Clan lights, I actually choose to keep the hands in an effort to increase my arm hitbox size (to deflect damage from other body parts).

and theres plenty of examples where mechs with hand actuators have worse arm pitch than mechs without them. so hand actuators dont uniformly increase horizontal arm pitch.

From Here:
http://mwomercs.com/...specifications/
Arm Actuator Rules:•The presence of the Lower Arm and/or Hand Actuator is determined by the OmniPod equipped to the Mech’s arm.
•Lower Arm and Hand Actuators can be toggled on and off by the user.
•Lower Arm and Hand Actuators are forced off if an Autocannon (including Ultra and LBX types), Gauss Rifle, or PPC is equipped to that arm.
•Current arm angle rules:
•0 lower arm actuators = 0 degrees yaw
•1 lower arm actuator = 10 degrees yaw (currently true on all Mechs, individual values may possibly change in the future)
•2 lower arm actuators = different for each Mech

There's the rub.
It states quite clearly that only arm actuators affect yaw.

Hitbox aside, I don't see much use, and haven't looked into the numbers.

Melee character to character is in cryengine yes, but mech to mech melee is a far stretch. Consider this, "you" are just the guy in the cockpit, they have to do new animations and code for "your robot" punching other robots.

...other than that, I don't know, hack into security teminals? Texting your buddies while taking cover from poptart fire ? Throw snow balls ?

It is your wrist.
Hand = Wrist
Lower Arm = Elbow
Upper Arm = Shoulder
If MWO had mechs like the Stinger or Wasp (forget which one actually holds the gun), then technically you should have even further range of motion.
Also in lore, you need hand actuators to actually grip, use an axe/hatchet etc. In MWO, it does nothing yet.
