I am basically new to BT. I have only played multi-player battle tech a short time.

What are the mech trees Russ spoke of in the founders thread. Do we have to level our mechs? Do we have to buy mechs in a certain order like a ladder?

I thought we could buy any upgrade or mech with enough cbils.

He meant what skills you will put in trees for specific chasis/tonage variants. You will not be locked from attaing mechs, it will just determine how good you are with them.

Sweet, I was just searching for this exact question.
This sounds interesting, is there much more info on "mech trees"? I'm picturing a talent tree, similar to diablo 2, or what was shown for hawken where they select skills like added armor, more speed, etc... except for specific chassis variants? Or is that not correct?
