If we had footage of role warfare working on the beta?
It sure does look good on paper but why not release some info
regarding matchmaking and the role warfare in practice?
It could help people decide into buying a founders pack

I would love to see a mixed force triumph over an all assault team

In practice, not on paper

What I'd really like to see is a longer block of in game footage in general. Like the IGN videos, only a whole match, idealy from a few different Mechs. Obviously the game isn't final yet, so details would be subject to change, but it would let people see the ebb and flow of a match and how different Mechs play.

And I could put it on full screen and pretend that I'm actually in the beta. :)

I have full confidence that the mechanics will be fantastic. The only thing that keeps the mechanics from working for a team are when teammates don't utilize them. It isn't the first or last time I'll say it, a good commander in BF2 (which had at least some of the mechanics that will be in MWO) makes a huge difference in the success of a team.

+1 would watch that.

Its one of those things that WoT tries to do, but leads to people constantly whining about the mm. Although it generally didn't pair lights with heavies, it tended to do heavies, mediums, td were all together and lights, arty were all grouped together.

If its like a total team value vs total team value that might work better instead of per tank balancing its team to team balancing. If it pairs by role instead of only weight class that might work too, you could have an Catapult paired with Trebuchet.

I expect the MM to suck for a while with just somestuff being horribly imba, but im a pessimist.

Yeah, a freeform camera following a 15 minute match, popping into a person's cockpit for a player view for a while. It would give us a nice look at the different roles, the gameplay, and how a MWO battle is likely to look like.

I agree.

And to be honest, I don't think this is too much to ask for.

I did buy the Legendary package, but after reading lots of peoples second thoughts, I keep thinking that I should have waited til early August to pay any cash...

Tell you what. I promise that if I get into the Beta early (and my computer can handle it) I will ask the Devs' permission to record some gameplay, run it by them, and if they allow it post the videos for everyone to see.

That said, who in their right mind would break the NDA on such an epic game as this one? If the Devs nix it, I don't think we'll see a video from anybody.

Anybody else here gonna ask permission to make videos?

I would love more videos (especially of commander stuff).

But I suspect that if they wanted more vids of current beta in public view, they would either be working on it already or they would already be out :)

I can already tell you the answer would be no, but it would be nice.

This I'd love to see but wonder if the meta-game has developed to the point where they can release a video of a match and say "this is how it's going to work".

Look back at the early beta days of StarCraft 2 when Terran players were complaining of how tanks were useless and how Zerg players never built banelings but always favoured roaches - these sentiments became obsolete as players learnt how to use them over time and would be judged as ridiculous today.

If a video of a fair match was released where a lance of atlases won over a mixed team would commentators be able to correctly judge the balance of the game? Would players in said video know how to fight a lance of atlases properly at this stage of the game?

A lance of Atlases shouldn't be an auto-lose outcome, it should be very very scary. Different compositions should give varying challenges but still have strengths to remain useful. I'd like to see lighter lances have opportunities to use their brains to defeat Steiner-Scout-Party brawns, but don't know if beta-players understand the nuances of the match-up yet and doubt that a video could capture such a thing well because the meta-game here is still far from maturing.
