Gee wiz guys, I'm glad an hour into the clan invasion the clans and IS have put aside there difference and decided to band together to form random teams against one another.

For a minute there I thought this invasion thing might get nasty. o.O

On a side note I really think the developers should be developing an option so they can be segregated asap (perhaps this was announced and I missed it). There really is no way to test true balance right now in this environment.

I think in the end IS teams deserve to have a slight team size advantage and be balanced equivalently such. They are supposed to be a bit more "swarmy" when you think about it. Honestly I think we're already pretty much there as the IS mechs do seem ever so weaker even with their different customization options.

Overall though I like where this is going so far except for the clans and IS random team thing. Matchups just feel really really weird right now.

I don't doubt it and I know a few others have commented. It just feels really really odd right now. o.O

I see a failure to understand the current state of the game, and the understanding of the PUBLIC que being different from what will eventually be Community Warfare.

Read the Command Chair section...it will open your eyes.

I have not been following recently. I will take a gander and refresh my knowledge. As I say I love my new mechs and all and I know it is just getting started. I just am amazed everytime an atlas comes up to save my timerwolf from a dire wolf

I swear, the clans spent more time shooting each other then anything else.

Trial of this, trial of that....even clans sending their own warriors to die due to "dishonor" or w/e...

No army that fights like the WWII Japanese and thinks dying for honor is a good idea ever wins.

it must be that Canadian political correctness at work. Don't want to hurt the clans or IS feelings by segregating them from each other :P

Some people think that losing with honour is better than winning at any cost. Most people these days don't understand that. Looking at modern society i don't see a lack of honour as a good thing ;)

Well honestly the clans did end up fighting each other and some joined and sided with the I.s. so it's actually pretty realistic

Apparently they're currently trying to bias the matchmaker so that it will pair people together who have similar factions (Davions with other Davions, then spheroids with other spheroids, etc). Not sure if they're going to do that with Clan mechs or just marked faction affiliation (i.e. if I'm using a Timberwolf flying Kurita colors - is it going to pair me with the other Kuritas or is it going to pair me with Jaguars who are using Clan mechs?).

For public queue, it makes more sense to pair people by their mech type (primary) and their faction affiliation (secondary). So if you're flying a clan flag and using a spheroid mech, you'll get paired up with guys flying spheroid flags using spheroid mechs unless it can find a whole team of guys flying clan flags also using spheroid mechs. This way the teams will end up resembling "clan mechs" vs "inner sphere mechs", which I think is kinda cool.

For CW or anything similar, it would be most appropriate to restrict people with some affiliations from using some mechs (i.e. you cannot fly the Steiner flag and use a Stormcrow). Then they could bias the matchmaking purely by faction affiliation, so that Green Pigeons would tend to get paired with other Green Pigeons, and Purple Pigeons would get paired with other Purple Pigeons (that's Jade Falcons and House Marik, in case you're tired or something).

Just like a book differs from the movie/tv adaptation (game of thrones), the lore in MWO is will change in translation. The whole clan invasion is more of a social/media event, like the Beatles invasion of the 60s.The real incursion is coming sometime after community warfare is introduced when the Kaiju invade.
