Last time I saw those pods was at Dragon Con 2 years ago.
I learned a few things...

1) I seem to fight more fluidly when hammered.

2) There is no greater joy in this world than crushing your enemies under a giant metalic foot.

3) After playing in those pods my girlfriend is now a mech junky and will be my fire support lancemate in MWO.

Just a little info for the battle pod lover here. The pods from Virtual Worlds are indead the ones from the north pier if memory serves me correctly. The nice gent who owns them (Propwash i do believe) has had them at Gen Con in Indy for the last 2 year and I do believe he is scheduled to do it again this year.

Wow I can't believe all the thread for the BTC, I enjoyed playing there and like in the other threads my callsign was PEACEMAKER and I played at Chicago. I still have a bunch of sheets, pins, shirts and keychain from there. If you read this Darklord I remember you and we played together.

There's a place in Colorado Springs, CO, called Big Al's Fun Center and they had the "linked" Battletech pods - about 12 of them iirc. They would put them in "stupid" mode for everyday battles, but the techs that ran them said they would have tournaments where more of the buttons and controls would be turned on, along with more of the realism and customizing (i.e. weapons load-outs).

One of the forums I frequent, BYOA, has a guy building his own Battletech pod: http://forum.arcadec...?topic=120085.0

Yeah the guys who been dragging them to genCon are from here in Michigan! They have em set up in a "garage" in the backyard. Myself and a few friends spent a Saturday blowing up stuff! Also creaming over his collection of BattleTech memorabilia which includes a lifesized Jade Falcon Elemental Armor Suit (Named Fred).

Yeah... good times.

Used to have some up here at the WoTC Headquaters in Seattle. Dunno if they still do, but for about 10 bucks for 15 minutes you could get a group of friends and do Red Planet Racing or BattleTech. Those pods almost ruined MW for me on principle. Nothing like being able to actually pilot a full blown Mech in real time.

I experienced the pods at both Walnut Creek, Ca and Seattle, Wa. locations. I didn't live close enough to go more than a few times to each, but had a blast whenever I did.

I play @ The Airlock in kirkland. The owner is a great guy and knows more about battletech than I can even comprehend. Definitely go and support them if you can, they need all the help they can get to keep the doors open. Operating a battletech tesla pod place doesn't generate a whole lot of revenue to pay the bills. Look em up on facebook or google em.

This is one of those things that makes me smirk when people claim today is the best time to be young in regards to "gaming".

I grew up in Chicago (The City) and when I was in highschool, my friends and I would race to North Pier afterschool, which had Battletech, a few virtual reality kits, an amazing arcade and lazertag all on the top floor. Growing up with Macross, Gundam and some other Mecha during North america's Anime infancy really made stepping into a pod quite a cool experience.

The Battletech center was just fantastic itself, some really cool people worked there and once you started to get recognized, league games and other "off the pricing sheet" things were offered to regulars. Red Planet Football was one of my favorites. Basically it was another sim using the pods that took place on an offworld mining colony and you raced through the mining shafts in your "pods". It was VERY fast paced and quite competitive, the football aspect made it even more intense. I am still baffled to this day how they pulled that off smooth as butter framerate in Red Planet.

Now I have to dig through boxes to see if I can find a Battletech Scoring sheet somewhere, man did I have a lot of those saved up at one time.
