Let me introduce you to a sub-forum you might not be aware of:

http://mwomercs.com/...m/215-kaetetoa/

What is this little place? Well, on the page it says Thick-skinned MechWarriors only! Beyond known space, outside HPG range, where no-one can hear you [squawk]. Home of Mike's Posting Shack

It's basically a sub-forum of a sub-forum where you can post anything and everything that doesn't fit into any other catagory, with this sub-forums purpose being obscure.

I accuse MWO as using this place as a way of censoring critical threads. If you recognize my username, I recently posted "250? Are you serious?" which in less than twelve hours received over 100 replies, only one of which being my own, and almost 1000 views. It took a critical stance on the new mech packages, and offered criticism on how the current pay model is negatively impacting the player population.

If you look at that thread, you will see many other HOT threads that take a decidedly critical stance on MWO or PGI. I contend that MWO's only purpose for this obscure sub-forum, which has one of the lowest thread and reply counts (3.2k and 111k respectively) of any sub-forum, which has some of the longest periods between posts and highest rates of repeated usernames popping up on new replies, as a place to put threads they find undesirable and wish to go away. Check out the sub-forum for yourself, there are a lot of well thought out posts as well as completely wtf posts, in addition to a lot of star citizen. This game gets a lot of references to star citizen for some reason....

I understand your concerns. I know the thread, I've voiced similar concerns for months. Most of those threads have, over the last 6 months, got to play out.

What often happens in contentious topics though is people get too, well, contentious. honestly? The front page of gen dis doesn't need to be the RAGE CHANNEL! ALL RAGE, ALL THE TIME! Which it can feel like if not kept clear.

Which is what K-Town is for. most of us know and love KTown. We go there for our dose of outrage.

most people though just don't want to see that all the time. So, after a topic has been debated enough times, most references to the topic get moved there more quickly. Your content isn't deleted, it's just not always front and center.

More to the point though... why should it be? The forums are there for players to discuss the game they're playing, not just complain. It can be easy to lose sight of that.

That's where stupid threads go. Also derailed ones.

This one is going there soon as well.

Yep, Threads about K-Town are pretty much express train to K-Town. First rule of K-Town... :)

Lurking on the forums as much as I do since I don't get a lot of active time to play, PGI censors a lot of things. Only problem is talking about it just makes it worse so this thread most likely will get axed fast.

Agree with first reply. Threads that go out of control have to go somewhere, tuck away the COD kiddies rage and keep the constructive and sensible conversation going. Topics also do not need to be debated into the ground. In the end it just becomes tiresome and counter productive..

This is a thread complaining about Ktown that will soon be sent to Ktown
Which will spawn another thread about how this guy is mad about something he posted getting ktowned complaining about ktown and how he had to find out about ktown which will then be sent to ktown.

If you read that post I mentioned, it was 50% justified complaining and 50% statistical and researched criticism. It was not just ranting, and I personally don't think moving a thread to an uncommonly looked at sub-forum is serving the purpose you suggested.

So what purpose did the thread serve, given that it's way too late? Also that there are a dozen similar topics already discussed for a cumulative hundreds of pages on that forum, after having run their course on gen dis?

The issue becomes 'what purpose does it serve'.

you're new here so I don't think you know how active Ktown is
Not to mention your rant was something we've all been over before
It's not that you're some brave dissenter who is being shut out by the man
It's that you're a whiner who is going on about things that are not going to change and saying things that have been said before by other whiners
It's a free game and some choose to pay for ****
get over it
Everyday multiple threads are made posting basically the same rant you did, nobody is trying to shut out your opinion, we're just tired of seeing it and nobody cares.

Sigh...

The good ol' days when people were smart enough to realize they were instigating unnecessary derision and accepted the reality they were trolling and didn't feign indignation when they got busted out and sent packing to k-town.

K-town is where you find Cake.

And sometimes pancakes.

or the good old days where people understood the difference between
"emg i hate you! you suck!"
and
"this really sucks, i'm unhappy as a customer and here's why. here's some ideas on how to resolve the issues I have with the game"

smh

OP....

If what you said were REALLY true, there wouldn't be a single solitary "bad" post about mwo, pgi, etc. on the forums. It's simply not true. THIS thread is exactly the type of thread that gets sent to k town. It's in violation of the ToS, it offers nothing constructive, it offers nothing at all really except to say "PGI censors people"

Even if I agreed and they DID censor people like you're suggesting. It's THEIR forum. It's THEIR rules. This is a privately owned forum. You can stand on a public street and scream about how much a store sucks all day long. You can't expect to stand IN the store and do it though.

If you read that post I mentioned

This always gets me. Why do people even type this? Did you read... If you had read.... I suggest you to read what i wrote again....

You're words are just about as golden as mine, and I'm well aware sometimes they look, sound, smell and become feces. You still need to figure this out. People read the topics you've posted today. They even answered you, then you insult their intelligence and integrity with remarking about how either illiterate they are or how their comprehension is lacking because they don't agree with you. Because, if they did read your golden words of crap, they would /bow down to your greatness, right?

Get real.

Bottom line, this is their (PGI) forum, they let you use it. The thread from earlier isn't gone, it's just locked behind a login wall known as K-Town, exactly where this thread will join it soon. they aren't censoring you. This is their general discussion forums, why let threads like this insult their customers who do pay and do enjoy the game.
