I am noticing that when I try to lock onto a target with clan LRMs, the locking animation hesitates for about a second or two (or even more) longer than I have with IS LRMs in the past. I will keep my reticle completely over a target and it will just hang there and not lock. Sometimes it does lock on quickly, but most of the time it does not, despite clearly having my reticle inside the target box.

Despite other posts.....Beagel and Artemis help for faster locks. Together with Sensor range and targeting decay was the lock on time of the Clan Mech as fast as on IS Mechs. ..But. You have to shoot in 2 Steps. First one launcher..then the rest. The first salvo always goes into nowhere....You can wait 10sek..this round will miss. When you fire one round..a LRM5 into the garbage. 0.1 sec later all your other rounds will hit. Artemis costs 1ton each launcher.....So my Summoner can only carry 25.....but.....they hurt. Yes IS 65t boats carry 5 tubes more.....It is OK. (Summoner Vs Catapult) The Feeling is that the clan rockets fly faster and have strange flying behavior. I hit Targets...IS LRM will never do. Even hiding is sometimes useless.

Yeah, there is womething weird with clan LRMS.
I dont know if its me but locking time feels long

Do _____ make lock on times shorter?
BAP? No.
Artemis? Yes.
TAG? Yes.
NARC? Yes.
Advanced sensor range? No.
Targeting decay? No.
BAP only increase target data gathering, it does nothing to shorten lock on times. (However, it does increase targeting/sensor ranges, and turns off nearby ECM, which can be helpful.)
Advances Sensor Range only increases the range of your sensors (and the ranges you can get locks, still very helpful).
Advanced Targeting Decay increases the amount of time you keep a lock after line of sight has been broken. It does not shorten lock on times. (Still really helpful, but will only effect your own locks.)
Artemis decreases lock on time, increases tracking strength (the missiles have more "correction" points in their path) and helps to bunch the LRMs into a tighter spread. Costs 1 crit and 1 ton per LRM/SRM launcher (not sure about clan requirements). It does still effect SSRM systems, but only by reducing lock on times.
TAG decreases lock on time, increases tracking strength, and helps reduce LRM spread. It also lets you target mechs being hit by TAG, even if they are under ECM. It's effects still help you personally even if you are effected by ECM (as far as I know), but the TAG effects will not help teammates if ECM is shutting your (personally) down.
NARC decreases lock on time, shuts down ECM on the mech hit (but other ECM can negate it) and permits the hit mech to be targeted, even if line of sight is lost. I believe it also helps with tracking strength and spread. However, most of the bonuses of NARC does not apply to a mech that has Artemis as well. (But it can still be very useful.)
Right now there is a bug that people are seeing where, even with IS LRMs, you can have a lock on (amount of time you've had the lock on does not matter) and your first volley will miss your target by not even tracking at all, and will shoot as though you blind fired the LRMs at the point were your reticule was pointing. I (and others) have noted this bug and have discussed it in other threads.

The OP is about buggy clan lrms, posting nonsense about BAP, TAG and anything that is built into the game to improve the normal function of properly working lrms is completely pointless.
I have also noticed clan lrms to sometimes have a longer hiccup to target for no apparent reason, or to have a red target only to faceplant straight into terrain instead of jumping into the air and searching out a flightplan as they are supposed to.

This sounds like an old bug that's lag related, locks wont fully complete for an extraordinary long time at random.
perhaps the fix with this patch caused an issue with clan lrms.
I am also noticing with IS lrms if I fire as soon as getting lock, they just plow into the ground. I have to wait about a second after lock-on for the real lock-on.

Yeah, I had the same problems yesterday.
The locks are delayed and it took about 5 seconds to lock a target - crazy.
And I have also experinced another thing -> when I have got the lock and fire the missiles, they fly not to the enemy ! They fly into the ground 10 meters in front of me ! Great !
Therfore, even when i get a lock with my LRMs, i will wait for another 5 seconds and then fire.
That helps.
