I've been trying to track down this random FPS drop as of late. In poking around, I noticed that the DX version is hardlocked to dx9, and the "heat glow" effect is also locked. I've got a DX11 card, and dxdiag confirms current rev as dx11.

Anyone else run across this?

You can't change these values ingame, you have to do this in the MechLab.

Also, DX Changes require a restart

In the future if this happens inside the actual mechlab, which it has twice for me...
There is a SystemOverride.cfg file with a warning not to modify.

; DO NOT MODIFY THIS FILE!
r_Driver="DX11"
r_txaa=0
r_msaa=0
r_postaa=0"

Change DX11 to DX9 or back, save, reload the game. In case if DX options become locked in the mechlab. It's a rare bug.

If the file is modified in any other way, it'd break the game and you'd have to undo it or reinstall.

Or you know... delete the .cfg file and have it recreate on startup :D
