Nothing good will come of this other than fattening the already fat wallets of lawyers.

Heh, guess you're right. I should probably just be content with the nothing we have now while waiting for more mechs.

My thought is that CW and PUG games are supposed to work hand in hand in a way, but the real meta game is CW itself. Interface wise there should be 3 game types, public, private and CW. CW is where your unit goes to war. So the first step is not only clan/ house affiliation, but unit affiliation. So individuals will be given a screen to choose from active units which will be comprised of canon, and player made units. Canon units go to war where they are told. Merc and other player units go to war where they want. So once a player is fully affiliated they see a map of the inner sphere and where they are stationed. They can then see how the battle is faring on their planet and engage in battles to sway the outcome. Win or lose the unit may be moved as their faction desires from planet to planet. Merc units will take contracts, fighting where they get paid too, affecting outcomes on that planet as they help or hinder a given side. House affiliated units work like merc units, but instead of contracts via outreach they earn salary for defending or taking worlds. All operations are done through an IS map a la mass effects galaxy map.
