When clan weapons were announced and it was decided that clan big ACs will fire "chainfire" instead of one big bang, i thought fine, no problem. It is reasonable to think that in name of game balance something like this has to be done. But i made the mistake of only thinking about the damage distribution. What i did not think was the effect it would have on shielding your mech in combat. With IS AC/20 you shoot the bullet (+ maybe lasers/srms etc) and usually turn your torso to shield critical stuff with your arms. With Clan versio you have to hold your aim through the salvo and with dual AC/20 config you basically can never shield yourself. You can easily try this out against IS opponent who is experienced enough to shield himself vs Clan mech where this is practically impossible. Result will be doughnut CT cored Clan mech vs IS mech with torn limbs and a torso. Personally i think this seems to be a double penalty for clan weaps. Not only damage spreads, which itself is already a HUGE nerf, but also you cannot shield yourself properly. According to the lore Clan weapons are supposed to be superior. Again due to game balance they needed some nerf but really now they are inferior and i don't like to think that was the original intention.

cuac 20 is not a bread and butter weapon, it is an auxiliary potential 40 damage addition to an already good build.

This is a very good point lost on pen/paper theory crafters who only see statistics and dont see how the matches play out.
Clan lasers are the same issue, longer face time, coupled with the inability of most clan mechs to face tank because of enormous CTs (in relation to their LT/RT), and you end up with the potential to be ripped apart by IS mechs pretty easily if piloted well.

Its not only c-uac 20. Also c-ac/20 is chainfire. And for both i don't mind the longer firing time and harder aiming that comes with it, if it didn't affect my ability to shield myself. Firing rate should be greatly increased or lbx style 4 missile "shotgun" effect would even out the shielding problem.
