After leaving town and the game for around a month I came back to witness the "clan invasion" yesterday. Well first off, the Clan Mechs are very tough, and very cool, and piloting IS mechs against them is a new challenge.
But I REALLY REALLY think the MatchMaker system needs an upgrade ASAP before we wait for "Community Warfare". It would give us an early taste of CW and shouldn't be that hard to implement.
Clan Mechs dropping/fighting with IS mechs? What's the point? Nothing feels new, other than we now have an arms race going on and IS mechs are less relevant now. As many others may have stated elsewhere:
1) Let CLAN mechs drop in Stars -- Have matchmaker setup 10 Clan (2 Stars) vs 12 IS (3 Lances) to balance the Clan superiority and give us an early taste of Community Warfare. Forget watering down Clan Tech or reducing the tonnage of the Clan mechs. This is a simple and needed fix. If its too tough to create stars instead of lances just make 1 lance have 2 less Clan mechs to get this rolling...
2) Along with the above -- Give us 3 new options for Matchmaker without having to resort to private games. 1) IS vs Clan Games (see point 1) 2) Clan vs Clan Games (2 Stars vs 2 Stars) and 3) Mixed (like today)
3) IF for some reason its too complicated to implement all of this soon at least implement the first suggestion and give us the option of dropping into a Clan vs IS fight so we can pummel the infidels/invaders.
