I am continuing to explore ideas on how to reward players that choose the currently suggested weight class.

My suggestion is to add gxp and/or cbills next to the weight class like in this :

set a "pool" of 100gxp and 10000cbill. The player will receive the difference of percentage of the weight class selected from the said bonus. its easy, its rewarding and its very simple to understand.

example :

light 10 %
medium 25%
heavy 30%
assault 35%

If a player choses medium he will receive 75GXP and 7500 cbills
if he choses lights he will receive 90gxp and 9000 cbills

This way everyone will feel they gain smth by playing but those chosing the "right" class will receive more.

But all that does is give people rewards for playing the "right" class. Shouldn't they be trying to make all play styles worthwhile by introducing better rewards for the actions those rolls excel at? Like right now there's a lot of cbills and xp to be had for getting kills but not for capping.

instead of hard bonuses by class it should go by what weight class is already enqueued in the MM and give the rewards to the class that is LEAST represented in the queue at any given time

i'd still much prefer we pick up to 4 mechs (1 from each weight class) to go into the queue with and the MM picks which one it needs to draw up an even game. you could only put 1 mech in to enter the queue in with, but you wouldn't receive any bonus and you might have to wait a little longer to get in the game. if you put 2 mechs in the queue you'd get a small bonus, 3 mechs a bigger bonus, and 4 mechs you'd get the max bonus

Just incorporate a maintenance tax. The tax is increased proportionately to your tech. Think of it as a way of adding Battle Value (BV) into the game without clobbering MM. So if you run expensive tech like Artemis, Gauss Rifles and ECM, a percentage of your earnings will go towards the maintenance tax. This is unlike R&R because:
  • If you lose the match, you're not penalized (this only applies to wins)
  • You will never hit negative cbills, as this only applies to wins
  • This does not penalize ammo dependent builds
  • You can always run what you want, only at the cost of a bit less win earnings
Before such a system is implemented, win earnings could use a bit of buff. This also can add to CW by giving Factions discounts on certain tech or battlemechs.
