My favorite side torsos for the Summoner include an AMS and a ballistic slot for each side. I love them 'cause I love having me some MGs.
Hm. How have you built Summoners? Of all the clan mechs, they just fail to speak to me.

The Kit Fox I've been having fun with has the C right arm but no AMS. Just ECM. The left arm is the one with the 1 energy and 1 missile hard point. So I have ECM, 2 ER Large Lasers, and a Narc with 1.5 tons of ammo.
I used to sport 3 AMS but most of the time it would never fire much and I'd end the match with around 1700 ammo. So I ditched it, figured just the ECM was good enough and the Narc is awesome for canceling enemy ECM at range, marking enemies for your team to focus fire, and being a general nuisance.

Ive been a Summoner fanboy since MW4 and it was why I got tricked into buying clanpacks. At first I was dissapointed, but now Im not. It can be a beast if managed correctly. First off you need to accept that the Summoner is NOT a front line mech. Ive had the best games using it as a flanker and fast heavy, like the quickdraw. Secondly you need to be a coward with it. - Get away if anyone sees you. Very un-clan like I know. Finally where others have seen the lack of hardpoint discuraging, I see it as a benefit. I build KISS mechs...

I can tell you how not to build one.
Even one on one against a Commando it had no chance.

Yeah as he said...No SSRMs loaded and no BAP... then noone can get to an angry commando. Do the same test vs Dire Wolf and see the outcome even with SSRMs and BAP, and you should be good for a laugh or two. I know Ive killed several Dire Wolves with my Ember.

On the point of Summoners, I've got a few heavy skirmishers to work, namely a prime with ER Large, an LB20 and an SRM6. It's totally situational. If I play it the way I normally would play that kind of mech loadout, as a brawler, I'd die. But as soon as I shift to the close-combat Dragon mentality I've worked with on my Fang, I start picking up kills.
Nicely done, Kiera, and that's a decent looking Kit Fox.

First pink mechs I have ever seen....I dig it!
Meta Summoner is KING! 2x ERPPC and X2 MG's......works like a champ! I also ran one ballistic torso and threw in the CAC5 which worked surprisingly well seeing as how the range is 670m. But the stock/non removable jumpjets have really swayed my opinion of the summoner have had no luck brawling due to the HUGE torso. (suffers from awesome syndrome) He plays wack-a-mole very well though.....
The Kit-Fox without at least ECM seems like a waste to me, it is slow compared to most IS light builds and not really fast enough to run away from the Fast Mediums either. Therefore ECM is a must with mine.....at least for my play style of ninja harasser!

Right arm.
Replace it with the Kitfox C right arm.
The Kitfox C beyond that right arm wasn't unique enough to bother putting in as a variant.
Actually, it's a variant with gear that doesn't translate over to MWO- a pair of anti-infantry (A-pods) one-shot weapons, one on each leg. Thus the only way to pass an ECM system down the line on any of them was putting it in as a pod- thus the Kit Fox-C right arm pod getting added. The C's 2E+2B left arm would have actually been pretty popular as well, IMHO.
