I concur with the comments on the command console's zoom functionality:
  • With CC and Advanced Zoom, I had a x4.93
  • With CC and no Advanced Zoom, I had a x1.00, x1.68 and x2.24
  • With no CC and no Advanced Zoom, I had x1.00, x1.50 and x2.00
  • Did not test with Advanced Zoom and no CC
As far as targeting info speed (targeting Commando in Testing Ground [Forest Colony]):
  • With CC and BAP, 1.25 seconds
  • With CC and no BAP, 2.00 seconds
  • With no CC and no BAP, 3.00 seconds
  • Did not test with BAP and no CC

The highest rank TC is 7 tons and 7 slots, it simply has to be worthwhile. And unless it can compete with 7 additional tons of weapons, armor, heatsinks or ammo it simply is not worth it.

The idea is to make what limited weapons you have more effective instead of strapping on more guns. Even if the TC is slightly better or even in the ballpark then it is a success. Because then it's pilots preference. Some boys like the big guns, others like more efficient means.

Yep. A MKVII TC takes up the same weight as:
-a C-ERPPC plus a DHS or ammo, or some lightweight weapons. The TC also uses 2 more crit slots.
-an ERLL, plus 3 DHS, but the TC uses 1 less crit slot. Or 2 DHS and an ERML.
-etc.

Its effects have to be roughly comparable to that, although slightly toned down because it's 0 heat. Crits are especially valuable because of how compact the clan builds are.

Targeting computers should lower duration of laser based weapons. CONSIDERABLY.
Every class should lower the duration of laser weapons by 10% per level.
A level 7 targeting computer should lower the duration of a Er large laser by 70% meaning instead of a duration of 1.5 the Er Large laser would have a duration of 0.5

He is paying 7 tons to make his 4 ton weapons more effective.

AC's should fire their rounds with quicker impulse. In other words depending on the class of targeting computer (Bigger = better) your AC's should fire their multiple rounds closer together. With a Class 7 targeting computer your AC's should streaming rounds so close together that they should almost be a single slug. Only the most frantic of fights or skilled torso twister would be able to diffuse the damage over several locations.

PPC's with a targeting computer should increase the pinpoint damage while decreasing the splash damage.

With a class 7 targeting computer a clan ERPPC should be dealing all 15 dmg pinpoint and have 0 splash with increased projectile speed.

7 tons of targeting computer to make worthwhile a 6 ton high heat weapon.

LBX with a targeting computer should dramatically reduce spread. With a Class 7 targeting computer the LBX should almost be firing a single slug. In other words tighten up the choke the more TC you have.

This is the only way I see targeting computers becoming worthwhile.

THIS. Not the numbers (they can be tweaked and balanced accordingly) but the main principles. Current TC bonuses are not worth it's weight and slots. On the other hand the above mentioned bonuses are really useful.

There are simple 2 things the command console needs , company wide buffs and you know what?

THAT CRAZY FUNCTION THAT LETS YOU KNOW YOU ARE BEING TARGET!!! X)

It was in game for a short time, judged to be OP and a hard deterent to scouts but for 3 tons it might be a viable idea, at least while pug-ing.

why would you need to know you are being target when you get damage indicators you are being shot :P to me thats enough indicator you are under fire from someone or anyone.

Heh, it's for sneeking around and knowing if you are getting scouted
Just because they aren't shooting at you doesn't mean you aren't being scouted and being locked for LRMs + it gives you just a split second to know someone is lining up a shot at you, as most people like to scan you for weaknesses before firing , unless at long range when they fire at the center mass.

Also while there are a number of other better options , as PGI seem to be in a phase of sure , will try if it's easy, this should be easy as they already did it before, so it's more likely to ask for this than asking for command rose , strikes on command grid ect. , while still geting some special functionality for CC , would still need buffs for bonus stats though...
