Silly little suggestion here, but it would be kind of cool to have options to select an animation for your pilot during the pre-battle boot-up sequence. These could be sold as options in the store, or added into bundles as perks, or whatever. Really shouldn't be too difficult to implement, and it gives something else to milk the cash out with.

Examples:
(Instead of punching random buttons)

The VCR fix: Slap the console, cockpit console lights briefly flicker.

Light up cigar with lighter.

Open a beverage can.

Crack knuckles.

Flick the hula doll.

Look left/right, wave or salute to squadmates.

Wow, because you have nothing better to do in the heat of a fight xD

But yes, some different animations we can add would be cool.

And powered down animations too. Like if you power down like some people do it is boring to look at a wall all the time.

For example:

> Look at watch
> Drink beverage you open at the start
> Racks fingers
> Play with a gameboy
> Flick your hanging item

Like if you are idle for too long. In some games when you are idle a idle animation happens. Like if its a FPS when your idle you will move your gun or if a revolver you will spin the wheel.

Neat idea...still would be a long way down the list on animation/art work.

1) Fix rubberbanding
2) Destructible Environments
3) Custom Decals on Mechs
4) More Maps
Etc, etc.

Greetings all,

First off, lets look at what is happening at the start of each match/drop.

- Two (2) groups of opposing Mech Companies, start out mysteriously on a map and powered down.
- I'm telling you that any Pilot that is entering a combat zone will have had his Mech running fully powered up well before the distances we are starting at. (possibly in low sensor mode but all systems would be on and charged.)

Going through a Mech start-up sequence is something that would happen inside the Drop ship, and was shown in the introduction movie for MWO 'way back when'. That was a low altitude 'Hot Drop' but you got the idea. If PGI wants to continue this animation 'for the immersion' factor, then have our Mech's stepping out of the Drop ship onto the Battlefield. (dust off drop style)
- This would require a new opening sequence showing the Mech inside the Dropship with some shaking and entry turbulence, the start up sequence plays and the doors opens up to drop the short distance to the ground, or walk out from the ship ramp.
- You want immersion, that would do it. A proper entrance into battle.

From the Lore and stories, the start up sequence could be different for each Pilot, and could be changed as they saw fit. This start sequence could be special gestures, keys, controls selected in a specific order or verbal. There was the factory standard but each type was designed to not only start all the systems up but also check that the person starting that Mech was indeed the Pilot that the nuro helmet was keyed to operate with. And as part of the security system it could fry the brains of a would be thief if not completed correctly. The maintenance crews operated via a plug in test unit that was designed for each unique Mech and delivered with them.

- This in game start up should only be once and not each time the Mech shuts down, from over heat or manually. So only required to play through at the start of each drop.
- Brian Ekman had mentioned that he would have liked to actually see a 'Hot Pod Drop' in the game, the Mech cocooned in a drop shell falling through the atmosphere, having the breaking thrusters firing and the pod case falling away to show the Mech landing on the ground ready to start the match. All we would need is the 'in pod' animations to be designed and played during the start-up cycle, and we could hit the ground running, so to say.
( We currently just spawn appear about 2 feet off the ground and go through the start up sequence, as you can see the other Mech's 'just appear' beside your Mech and go through there start up and stand up animation.)

Just some thoughts,
9erRed

Oh boy, one of those posters. As though we don't know about current problems that need addressing. I swear, forums fill with this kind of crap "oh we can't have anything knew until all the old kinks are finished." Thanks, but we know there's work to be done, however that doesn't mean we can't have new content added along the way.

Seriously, this kind of hand-waving rejection can be added to any idea. It's tiring to see it repeated.

I would like to see the whole drop pod thing going on while you wait for that last player to connect...

I would rather they fix the current start up animation first, the Dragon's has been broken since release, the pilot presses non-existant buttons in the cockpit.

I think things like light amplification, thermal vision, battle grid, missile hatches and such could all be controled by switches in the cockpit with visuals associated with activating them.

That would be great!

Also poster complaining about other features first is getting Really old, we are trying to have a constructive argument with the OP.
