As long as 4x3 is not here, you are better off playing as the Stormcrow over the Adder. It is simply superior.

Also considering that PGI seems to have given up with 4x3 and is going for 3x4 instead, there will likely never be a reason to take the Adder instead of a Stormcrow. Yay.

Until we get the Fenris and Dragonfly we will not have any speedy Clan mechs to keep pace with the fast IS lights. The Dasher and its MASC will be a problem, so it will be a while before we get that.

The Fenris and Dragonfly will destroy the IS speedy mechs because they can have more armor. They won't have much in the way of weapons though, but more than enough to take on the Jenner and Firestarter.

The Adder is capable, but it's still sub-par at best. It will probably never be a fully compliant "meta" mech, and things like Embers/5-6 ML Jenners/2 ERLL Raven 3Ls will still be the competitive lights of choice.

You're better off with the Kit Faux for utility/support (ECM, JJs) or the Stormcrow for brute firepower and armor (at the same speeds and with slightly higher agility). The Adder isn't the worst light in the game by any means (Locust, Commando, slow Ravens, and non-ECM Spiders are inferior to it), but it's like driving a Lolcust, Trebuchet, Dragon, Awesome, or other trashy mech.

No, it's not meta. Yes it's fun. The end.

Now that that's out of the way, we can all publicly stroke our epeens without the boring pretense of discussing the qualities of a mech.

It's an inferior mech in all the ways that matter, as this thread has kindly pointed out. I encourage you to field it as frequently as possible.

I will. And you will be destroyed.

Just finished mastering out my Adder prime yesterday. It is a mean little beast that people underestimate at their peril.
Never more than one or two lancemates, All random games , no cherry picking battle type. 275.8 avg. dmg across all games since day one with no upgrades or skills. About 1/2 acting as scout/spotter. The other 1/2 as ankle biter. Somewhere north of 400 avg. dmg in the ankle biter games, peaks to 600 plus. Takes some getting used to, but very effective, especially now I have settled on a build I like.

And it's FUN!!!!!

My guestimation is that the Adder is more of a ranged support mech than the Kit Fox, given the natural builds with LRMs and ER-PPCs. I'll be honest, though, in that I haven't dropped in the Kit Fox yet.

All of mine have the C arm for the ECM. One of them has the 3x AMS with Overload. Fun support mech, but not really a scout mech since most things can catch or keep up.

You can put as many or more of any given weapon on the kit fox. Puma is just worthless.

Kitfox with ECM 3xAMS has way more utility for your team than an Adder. If I owned an Adder, which I don't, I'd probably run 4xSRM6 and wait until friendly mechs are engaged in close range combat before jumping out and spraying the enemy down with SRM barrages.

Incorrect. You can make more varied loadouts with the Adder Omnipods. Kitfoxes only have them mostly to the arms.
