You can think about alot of weapons and why theyre bad.

Autocannons have long been weak weapons. they require ammuntion, can have ammuntion explosions, are heavy, large and require alot of weight and space for the ammo on top.

Why not just use a laser? Aside from range a Large Laser is quite a bit better than an AC/5.
