Well I tried to join a thread about lag but apparently it wont let me ;) so I will start another one.

So here it is, since the last patch the game is very variable, sometimes it plays ok and other times the lag is apalling and the game is totally unplayable. Please fix it as it's ok looking at balance/elo etc but for any of this to have a bearing you actually have to be able to play.
For those of us that can't afford the mega priced clan mechs I am starting to feel like a second class mechwarrior.......

Umm...buying Clan mechs has absolutely nothing to do with any lag you're experiencing.

What are the specs of the computer you are using? Are you using a low-end machine?

Where do you live? Maybe something in the last patch is dropping packets to your internet service area.

I'm actually experiencing something similar.

Game always ran smooth previously, and recently It gets all herky jerky and stutter intermittently.

MY FPS is the same and my ping is running a bit higher than normal but still generally no higher than 110.

I dunno whats causing it but it wasn't happening until recently.

I've been experiencing these issues as well. My ping never goes over 60 and since the last patch I've encountered a lot of lag scenes (teleporting, "missed" shots that looked like they hit but dealt no damage, one insane match where everyone starting teleporting around - I was on TS with two others - people could still fire and sometimes deal damage if they hit targets that were invisible and when the match timer hit 00:00 it just disappeared but the game didn't end).

There's a lot of variables here. Have you guys tried purging the shader caches? All your drivers up to date?
Try the MWO repair tool, too http://mwomercs.com/...public-release/

Post back any findings or responses here! good luck!

I dont think I have a really top end machine but it's not low end either
AMD Phenom II x4 B50 running at 3.10ghz
4GB RAM
Vista 64 bit
Nvidia geforce GTX 650 Ti
and up until the last patch it was running fine with no slow down, rubber banding or lag

I had these problems with the last non beta nvidia driver update recently (on other games too), they since released a beta that has fixed it for the most part, might help for anyone using their cards.

Actually that is a low end machine. GPU is low end of the affordable "nice" processors, 4 gigs of ram when Vista eats up over a gig just in overhead, and an okay GPU. It should run MWO though and I don't think that is cause but it might be compounding the issue.

Usual suspects:
ISP - Your ping can be fine, but if the connection is dropping packets then the game will lag even though the ping never drops. It could be a common router some people go through to get to where PGI hosts their servers.

Some bug in the software creating overhead that specific machine environments have issues with.

Someone suddenly hogging bandwidth. My friend gets kicked out of a specific game whenever his wife turns on the X-Box and goes into Netflix on it. Once she is using it everything is fine but for some reason the X-Box sucks up all the bandwidth for about 3 seconds when she fires up Netflix.

So questions to ask.

Where are you physically located?
What ISP?
How is your personal network setup?
Is this a clean install of MWO? Have you tried clearing caches for MWO?
Is there anything you can think of that has changed.

The room my computer is in could use it's own air-conditioner. In the winter this room is cooler than the rest and in the summer much warmer. That means my cooling system on my computer(which works as a personal space heater when I am really stressing it) is not working as well so I am noticing a few more issues in general with my computer. Maybe something like that is happening?

If it were server lag I would assume there would be a LOT more complaints.

Thank you! Forgot to mention that suspect.

I hate when people use the word "lag" because it's so unspecific. Are you having issues with a high ping, or low/hanging frames?

I've had weird lag maybe twice since last patch. Not network lag rubberbanding, not low FPS I'm typically 80-100, but just the game feels like it's in slow motion for a few seconds. Like a smooth FPS lag spike dip. No jerkiness, just slow motion.

Happened on Alpine and on Frozen City, both times I was up on a cliff looking down on 5 or 6 mechs fighting.

The second time it happened I glanced at my fps and it was 85.

My PC is like

8gb ram
a 5700ish series video card
3core, I think 2.4Ghz cpu.

Yet this game I get 12-19FPS on largely low settings.

And this game is not that high tech that it should be so damn bad.

What PGI needs to do is optimize this game....Its graphics are no better then Crysis, BF3, Planetside 2, and those games I can play on medium settings with next to no issues.
