For me it was too easy mess myself up with a sudden strange noise, the phone, someone knocking on the door...
You instinctively look and suddenly you're off track or going the wrong way or worse.
I'm easily distracted (and amused) though so you might be fine.

It really is a game changer if you enjoy any sort of flight simulations etc, I would rank it up there right under HOTAS (Hands On Throttle and Stick) for functionality and adding immersion in those types of games.
Although if your only going to be playing MWO and don't really dabble much into flight simulations or anything else that takes advantage of the TrackIR equipment then I would say it won't be worth the price of entry.
It was a no brainer buy for me since I play every sim under the sun: DCS A10/BlackShark, IL2/IL2:COD, Rise of Flight, Falcon4 BMS, ARMA series, etc etc...
Also if you do end up picking one up, I would suggest you get the TrackClip Pro as well. The IR detection is vastly better with it than the little sticky IR/hat IR accessories they give you.

- almost as good as TrackIR, and costs about 30$ for complete system

I hope there will be support for this.
All you need is a webcam, and some hands to make 3xIR clip.
Below - packed for a friend homemade 3point IR clip, cost - 10$ max.

As far as I know it has been confirmed by PCGamer in this article. http://www.pcgamer.c...online-preview/
I don't think we have heard an actual official comment that is it supported, but I'm willing to bet its in.

My understanding (based on leaked info from beta) is that the "free look" feature controls where your arm weapons are pointing.
So a TrackIR could be used for aiming my arms while my torso is pointing a different direction?

That would make me buy one, if confirmed.

Will be using the HMZ to play and if TrackIR is supported will make for a truely immersive experience.
Has anyone posted anything in the suggestions forum?

Especially for flight sims (IL2, DCS Blackshark) and FPS games like ARMA2, gives you a huge situational awareness advantage.
In flight sims you can look around the cockpit at a quick glance to check settings and gauges, as well as be able to smoothly keep eyes on the enemy while keeping HOTAS.
I briefly tried to get it to work with MWO, but really haven't had the time to tinker with it to get it to work properly. Maybe I'll try again this weekend.
Here's a review that shows its utility:

TrackIR (and Freetrack, great piece of software, I have built many of them for people) really add to the immersion and gameplay.

Going with that, I bought some of of these 1/2" threaded sphere reflectors

from IZI Medical http://www.izimed.co...html?Vl=17&Tp=2 to make nicer passive units. They are picked up more precisely/from larger angles than the stock rectangular ones, and with a 10-32 thread are very easily incorporated into robust solutions:
