Perhaps have heat cause the myomer bundles on one's mech to spasm, causing subsequent weapons fire to go somewhere other than the center of the reticle. The higher the heat, the wider the firing cone at terminus, potentially resulting in missing the target altogether. No prior indication of exactly where the shots will go is necessary, since the aiming reticle is a projection in the neurohelmet of the pilot, not a gun-cam.

If were to ever get "newer" lasers then we gonna need true dhs.
Current 1.4hs can barely handle large lasers, ppcs are just too hot.
Binary lasers, xpulse, heavy lasers and ppc, hell even rotary ac5 will probably stress heat pretty heavily to the point where it will be better to boat old technology instead of changing into new one.
