Like maybe the female voice from Star Trek telling me about the reactor breach would be nice.

Would be a little hard - you'd either need to license the existing clips off Paramount or find a sound-a-like actress, since she passed away a while back.

I reckon that new recruits should get a quick single-player PVE training mission or two and the instructor, not the mech voice, should be the drill sergeant from Full Metal Jacket (keeping the language clean, but a similar feel - ie, "until you graduate my class, you are groundpounding scum!!! You fail this mission and you WILL be cleaning my mech with your toothbrush!!!"). :(

MW2 or nothing.

Agreed. She had the mild voice you need for a system reporting computer - you want precise, concise voices. Patrick Stewart would be an ideal choice for a male alternative.

When we get around to the Clans, you'd want an upper class voice, I think - one that is used to not using contractions.

I don't mind who they get to do the voices, as long as they are: Calm (you need the system to calmly tell you that your mech's falling apart so that it helps you calm down), quiet (I don't want it blaring in my ears all the time), concise (I don't want to have to wait several seconds before I find out the reactor's going haywire on me) and not annoying (give it the wrong accent and it'll be muted in seconds).

So many awesome voice ideas from actors. What about other games?

-EVA from Command and Conquer.
-CABAL from Command and Conquer.
-The Cybran Computer from Supreme Commander.

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

There's only one real instructor for a mechwarrior tutorial:

Dead-Eye from MW2:Mercs. (1:22, a classic line)

I want the voice of Carl from Aqua Teen Hunger Force.
" yeah your reactor, that's online"

"that last hit, yeah, that was kind of critical. Remember that AC-10 you USED to have... yeah, that's destroyed"

Can you think of a female with a cool voice? It might be just that i am married and all female voices cause me to cringe but I can:t think of a good one that isn't long since pushing daisies.

How about giving us the option of which voice we'd like to hear. Personally, I'd go for a Lara Croft-esque British voice. :P

I hadn't really thought about this till I read the OP. But this really is a critical detail. I think the Idea to pick a vocie between several would be awesome.

Has to be a woman's voice and i agree that the one in MW2 was the best. The Military did tests and found that pilots paid more attention to a woman's voice over a mans and not surprising considering how many pilots are male.

Though a robotic hand needs to be in the cockpit to slap you on the head and tells you to do the dishes for the authentic feel :P

R Lee Ermy, perfect.
But seriously, I'd vote for Ellen McLain. When I say this topic shes the first voice I thought of. (and she had a catchy alt-rock song in the 90's when she performed under the name Poe)

I rather hope they changed the "all systems online" to "all systems nominal"...

Yeah, the computer definitely needs a voice. "All systems - nominal" ... can still hear that in my head :)

As to the voice: What about GlaDos? :P

The voice should reflect the house you fight for. Bring on the Draconis voice :P
