When playing a clan Assault Mech try to find those magical places like tunnels where taking fire from the sides is less likely. Try to play in an area where anything standing in front of you will die a quick death.

Do you already own both of these?
If you only want one, and don't own one yet - the Dire Wolf has more raw firepower and more customization.
It's also exceptionally slow and has poor manuevrability.
If you are used to heavies the Warhawk might play to your liking.
It's an overlooked mech, that won't get focused as hard as the dire wolf.
With speed tweak and double basics you'll be pleasantly surprised at is maneuverability.
It's locked into 20 DHS, so make use of them.
It's a touch short on hardpoint options, but it does have a few good options to use.
As for how to run it, I've had fun with:
1) 2x LRM 15, UAC 10, 4x cER MLAS
2) 2x UAC 10, cERPPC
3) 2x Gauss, 1x cER MLAS

I'm lvling up all my Dire Wolfs to masters and I discovered an amazingly well balanced build and its very effective. Going on 9 wins so far I thought I'd stop in and check the forums. http://mwo.smurfy-ne...e8b04af9c146e43
I been using this Dire build for fast corner peaking dmg and LRM spam. Ive been averaging 500-600 dmg per match and getting 2-3 kills even with a 1800 MS ping. Which is hard cuz I have to play Aniticipation mode and guess where my targets will be. I literely gotta shoot 50-100 ft ahead of my targets sometimes or look for people standing still.
Set your 3 Large lazers on each arm for right and left mouse button shots to use either your left or right Lazers for sniping around corners. It minimizes a ton of damage you would normal take if your brawling with a heavy Mech like the Dire Wolf. They take alot of damage and fast so you need to utilize the corners effectivly. I also use the Radar Deprivation and Seismic Sensor for light mechs sneaking up behind me.

No joke, this is literally how I play my Dire Wolf:
-Walk to a secure location, stand there
-Face a direction
-Wait for enemy to walk into you (Important! Do not walk to them cause you're a slow bullet magnet)
-Alpha Strike
-Continue to aim at them (aka don't bother torso twisting, slow twist speed and giant center torso hit box)
-Alpha Strike again (you'll be close to overheating at this point)
Are the dead/running away?
Yes:
-You win! Continue to stand there and repeat process. Otherwise move to another secure location and repeat process.
No:
-You lose. You either missed or they brought friends. You're screwed at this point. Press 'O' to override and Alpha Strike again (you're dead anyways, might as well leave them with a parting gift)

Aside from the above troll who is pathetic (seriously, he has never posted and now chooses now to say this.), thanks for all the tips. Most of them have been for the Dire Wolf though, any more advice for the Warhawk?

Switched from Dire Wolf to Warhawk and have found it a lot more effective/survivable. Current build is 4xStreak6, 4xERML with clan active probe.
