I just realized that you can click and rotate a mech in the mechlab.

What else can this game do that I never noticed before?!?

You know about smurfy right? It's a huge help in planning out new purchases and customization

Did you know you can use the Inventory screen to more easily find lost modules amongst all your mechs?

Did you know some mechs have doors over their missile bays that give 10% bonus armor when closed, but if you fire missiles out of them while closed there is a delay while the doors open? Did you know there is also a tiny light in the cockpits of the mechs that have said doors that indicates when the doors are open or closed and that you can toggle the doors open/closed with the / key (default binding)?

Did you know you can switch ECM to counter mode with the J key (default binding) to counter another ECM so friendly missile boats can target it?

Did you know that double heatsinks outside the engine are not actually doubly efficient, that they offer 1.4 times more cooling than standard heatsinks?

Did you know that the hit points of the internal structure of each location on a mech is 1/2 the maximum armor that can be equipped on that section? Except the head, which has 15 points of internal structure (to make one shot cockpit kills less likely).

*Edited to reflect correct head internal structure, thanks McGral18.

15, actually, for 33 total HP.

You can also dim the cockpit lights with the period key. It has 3 settings.

I've seen 15 and 18 both stated as internal structure for the head, have not actually tested myself.

Smurfy now lists internal structure, and they all have 15 HP:

Now, critical strikes with weapons could cause you to be one shot by dual gauss. A single AC20 can do 29 damage if it gets 3 crits since 15% of crit damage is returned to the IS.

Some mechs, like the Catapult, have missile bay doors that can be opened by pressing forward slash ( / ).

Leaving them closed causes a slight pause in firing missiles, but provides an additional 10% damage reduction to that location.

18 would actually make more sense because there are a ton of mechs that can do 35 damage pinpoint alphas. Edited my earlier post to correct the value, thanks for the info.

It's been 33 to blow off a fully armored head since we started. No reason to think it's changed now.

I have tested it myself, it takes exactly 33 damage to kill most mechs by headshot, subtract the armor and you end up with 33-18=15 internal structure.
Some combinations of lasers might actually deal slightly less damage than advertised due to rounding the per hit damage, so a 33 damage laser combo might not kill a target even if all of it hits the head.

Lets all post little things like this and see if we can't get a comprehensive list together for players. I know I have personally been playing for almost 2 years and still don't know all of the commands off-hand (a lot of times it's because I don't use stuff that requires me to use those mechanics or features very often)

To expand on this, there is also a key bind to set throttle to 100%, don't remember default but I have it bound to E. Fast mechs can actually accelerate faster than the throttle will go up if you just hold W, so if you need to get moving quickly it is best to use the bind for 100% throttle.

I didn't know I was so desperate for something interesting on these threads, I'll click a

"10 things you didn't know about your ****!" type title.

That's sad. Logging off.
