Have the devs mentioned anything about XBONE/PS4 port possibilities?
War Thunder was ported to PS4 (extremely poorly too) and I hear it has about 90,000 players daily on there. Not too shabby
Xbone/ps4 Port ?

Many of the UI2.0 design choices seem suspiciously "console ready". And they recently said they'd enabled Xbox controllers. So...

If you look at a modern controller and try to figure out how to apply all the functions used by a pilot, you'll see it's almost impossible to make sure everything transfers over. Console players will end up at a significant disadvantage. Well, the queues would probably be split anyway, but the game would have to be simplified quite a bit.

If I was running PGI, I would try to plan ahead and develop a single-player, AA-quality title with it at the end of MWO's life cycle, which I'm guessing would be late-2015 to early 2016. Marketing aside, based on what I see MWO so far, I feel like all we need is competent AI design as well as time and money, then we could have a proper SP/Coop game on our table.
That can totally go to console.

Modern video game consoles are just dumbed down PCs.
Why anyone would buy a dedicated proprietary non-upgradable piece of hardware just to play games on the screen when by plugging your computers video output to the TV (or even better: a beamer) and using a game controller you can have the same effect is behind me.
