Alright I broke down and bought 3 clan mechs. Timberwolf, warhawk, and direwolf. In some ways the clan stuff (namely autocannons) where disappointing, but over all they are pretty much as OP as I thought they where. There xls and double heat sinks alone are just better hands down.

The good news is the IS has a chance to make a fight of it with some common sense weapon adjustments. There is no need to nerf the clan stuff PGI really just needs to UNNERF some IS stuff.

First off get rid of ghost heat for IS at least and instead just limit the number of certain weapons they can carry.

1 ac 20
2 gauss
3 ppc of any type
4 large lasers of any type

With the weight and hard point restrictions on IS mechs with these simple weapon caps the IS can become better close and mid range brawlers, but still will be out ranged by the clans. That way the weapons will still be different but better balanced.

Also get rid of the charge up time on the gauss if you are just using 1. That way smaller mechs like the shadowhawk can use a single gauss with ppc to compete with the clan mediums. I realize that catarphacts and highlanders could potentially "abuse" that it really won't be that big a deal. A victor or highlander trying to pack 3 ppcs and a gauss (36 tons JUST the weapons) will have to make such huge speed and armour sacrifices that they won't become op. ALSO 3 ppc and gauss is 45 damage. My dual gauss, dual ER PPC direwolf puts out 50 a pop. The IS needs these denerfs.

On a side note the better narc and 1/2 weight clan lrms are putting some hurt on the old meta already. And the proposed JJ/fall damage/ JJ heat adjustments will go a long way towards nerfing poptarts anyways.

But anyways just some ideas, no need for name calling if you don't agree with me.
