How Do You Hit Spiders?

Other lights don't seem to give me as much problems.

ACs? Aim for the arm in the direction they are going.
For example, if they are running to their left (your right), point directly at their left arm when you fire at 50 to 200 meters. You'll hit CT or their RT. Lead the same arm at 300 to 400 meters, and don't bother beyond that range with ACs.
Time shots for when they run at you to simplify it and go center mass. Same for when they run directly away.
Aim for legs when they are "too close," they are usually 1.5x bigger than they appear and easy to hit.
In general... try using streaks as an anti-light method.
Never shoot a Spider when it's just jumping, count to 2 (Simply 1, 2) then blast it in the air or count to 2 after it lands before shooting again. Any shots done when it just jumps or just lands will NOT work due to some HSR bug associated with jumping and the sudden rapid Z (height) change in the jumping animation.

If it's running straight away from you the legs are much harder to hit (due to how skinny they are), but you won't have to lead a rear torso shot in this case.

If it's running directly towards or away from you, shoot for center mass.
Knowing where the rear ST's are (the little JJ pack on either side) is very helpful as you can one shot them fairly easily this way.

However if you're in an Atlas you can use the hand actuators to grab it and pull the limbs off one by one with a maniacal grin on your face . Chanting "this little spider went to market, this little...."
What? Taking it too far?

Sigh
Let them bring in the Highlander Burial and melee combat first, so that hand actuators have an actual use (even if it's just a possible hardpoint for a melee weapon). THEN we can talk about an Atlas pilot dismembering Spiders, before an Axman comes and removes the Atlas's head from it's body.

Also, this is how you hit a Hunchback.
Now...because I'm here and already gave my serious answer...
if it's absolutely unwanted, newspaper or boot works. Otherwise I'll just get it to skitter to where it's wanted for Florida insect control.

Sadly the same seems to be in MWO since HSR is still a contruction site of fomidable extent .

if you take away a lights leg, its useless and will die almost instantly.
ALLWAYS GO FOR THE LEGS

I've shot clays my whole life and use a couple of tricks from that hobby to aim - if something jumps (like a clay thrown vertically a.k.a. the springing teal) it's going to go in one direction and near or at the apex of the jump height is where you know that arc will be going down instead of up - they can't re-jump or turn at the top of the jump - that's when to plug them.
If a Spider jumps and I'm facing it I can usually hit it pretty hard at the top of that jump. I didn't know about the HSR bug so it's a good thing I've been waiting for the top of the jump instead of trying to hit it at the beginning or end of the jump.
If it keeps doing the circle of death I'll try to use laser to sweep the legs, while chain-firing AC's.
There's a couple of Spider pilots who either go after every Jager they see or remember me as easy kill newb (very true) but I've got better and the past few weeks I've killed a bunch of them - or legged them, which is satisfying as hell. I got one on Frozen City Night the other day, and after the GD Spider finished legging me I busted out of the crowd of my team to where I could move and shoot - Spider jumped - legged him too right in the air with the triple ac5's. Yes, it may have been a ***** thing to type "How's that leg, Spider?" but due to his good sportsmanship he typed back "Sore!"

I line up shots for peak of jump or when they hit ground. Otherwise, spray and pray.
More often, I drag them to people like Terciel and let him kill them ;-)
