So I was downloading the patch thing to play the game right. And it said it was done downloading, I waited about 10min for the Play button. It didnt show up, so I exit out of the launcher. Now when I go back into the launcher it instantly exits out for somereason.

Might be worth redownloading and checking back in on it in the morning?

Try uninstalling the patcher and reinstalling it.

You exited out mid-finalizing. Which may have caused some damage to game-system files. I'd recommend either running the repair tool, or re-installing. My advice is queue up a few episodes of a show you want to watch, or a movie, and run those while the game is installing/finalizing. The finalizing for the first installation can sometimes take a long time.

You have to be very patient while installing MWO and overall patient when you are playing it and....
Yea .... did I mentioned you have to be very very veryveryvery patient with this game ?


Uninstall it if possible and reinstall it after restarting. And pray this .... game didn't screw your registry.

The finalizing patch step is the actual installation, and it can take quite some time (even a small patch may have to make changes to some very large .pak files)

Try the repair tool, but you probably need to uninstall and reinstall, and possibly run a registry cleaner. Don't exit programs when they're in the middle of an update or installation.

Hi, i downloaded the launcher about 2 weeks ago so i could play the game with a friend i havent even opened it. today i went to play the game and the launcher kept getting a connection error. i didnt know what to do so i uninstalled it and went back here to install it and the link for the install is not an actual web page its a fake the 'i cant find'
someone please help urgently!

Note the 60 megabyte download is just the patcher to install everything.
The "patching it does" is the actual install.

Alright.

Step one, this is not a web-based game and does not require the website to launch. Only to download the installer.
That said, if you ran the installer you should have this little guy in your start menu.

Please click it now and say "yes" to allowing it to run in administrator mode.
Now you'll see this screen.


Step 2. See that pretty blue button with the white text? Says "Patch." Click that. When it's good and ready -- some long time later -- you'll be ready to play.

Skipping an hour or three...

Now you'll see this.


Alright! It's ready to go.

Step 3: Hit Play.

You'll find yourself here after the publisher and developer are done kindly reminding you who brought this game to you; which they will do every time you start the game. Hit space repeatedly to tell them "Yeah, yeah, START THE GAME ALREADY!!!!"


Now enter your email and password.
Once there, you'll find yourself on a page much like this....with a lot fewer mechs.


That's the game reminding you that you're space-poor. But don't worry, for your first 25 matches the game will shove LOTS of c-bills (money) down your throat until you've got roughly enough to get almost any mech you want for your first mech. Click one and then click launch.

Or better, click "Home", "Tutorial" if it doesn't already put you there on its own. Then after, click "Home" and "Testing Grounds," to get familiar with things before really mean people in large walking battlemechs (mechanized walking tanks) shoot you.

Sadly however, it doesn't stack with Cadet Bonus anymore since it's now an achievement (though the 2 hrs of free premium time is still free to use).
