I've noticed a lot of people bitching about the OP clan weaponry, and I understand why their mindset may be set that way. The clan mechs are tough, can deal one heck of an amount of damage, but I think part of it is also the mindset that the Clan mechs/weaponry is inherently better.

However, dealing damage with Clan weaponry is actually very difficult. Ballistics (not including gauss) are broken up through multi-shots, energy weapons (not including PPCs, but those have the splash damage to reduce their direct hit) have an increased 'on target' time which makes even the slightest twitch will cause a huge loss, missiles stream formations are chewed apart by AMS and SRMs while lighter are still comparable to their IS counterparts.

Also, after SEVERAL days of playing a Timber Wolf and playing, testing, and gritting my teeth with frustration, I started to finally manage a good build and learn how to play it. These are 2 of my best games, but don't be fooled, I still get downwards of 100-300 damage when neutered and focused on. On average I can pull about 550-800 damage with good lance mates and the pugs not getting rolled.

Talks about builds, does not post any.

Cmon, don't keep me waiting. :)

*edit* Hmmm, dunno how that works out.

Doing damage with Clan mechs is easy. Doing effective damage with non-meta Clan loadouts is a bit more challenging. And Clan mechs are tankier than IS mechs, so more damage is needed to bring them down most of the time.

I've just noted that Timber wolf has the Spider treatment , 4 LBX Direwolf at 90 meters and still Mad Cat clean. That needs a fix like now.

Just a suggestion.

The MPL isn't really worth it over the normal ML since the duration change is so low. Changing those to normal MLs allows you to put on Artemis, which is great for SRM6s. Much more effective damage. The machine guns won't be doing much with only 2 of them, and knocking those off plus the ammo allows you to fit in another DHS.

Here's another version keeping the machine guns but losing the AMS. Personally I'd keep the AMS.

The MPL have been working great actually and their refresh time is exactly why I use them. I have no heat issues between the LL MPL and SRM6. Also the MGs tear through internals with just 2 in a great amount of time. I've looked into the other builds and this one just works really well for dishing out major damage. Its rare that I run out of ammo too.

Please tell me those are 2 LBX-20s and 2 LBX-10s, fired simultaneously.

I've been enjoying this build quite a bit

edit. It saved the wrong load out. replace 1 ton of machine gun ammo for an active probe

That's one hell of a lot of small lasers, and tons of missiles too. I personally find it funny how the dual missile point side torsos actually have a negative effect on missile weapon cooldowns. =3
