Pity I don't have an Unlike button, it's Karl Berg AFAIK that's been writing the MM that'll be coming out on July 2nd. And that guy rocks.

All of he recent posts regarding 4x3 and the PTS, relate to the viability of "release values" to matchmaker. This does not give me any confidence in the matchmaker, only that PGI (Karl) has automated the ability for it to turn itself on and off without a hotfix.

I like Karl, I think he is a great example of an communiy-minded developer, and he seems like a pretty smart fella; but he deals with abstracts and statistics, and I frequently find my gameplay experiences do not match his 10,000 foot observations.

Oh.. the Dire wolf CT change will lead to them being even more of a wrecking ball.

Is there a post on the forums about DW CT or was this mentioned on twitter?

The bonuses for the Targeting Computer will end up being much smaller than originally announced and unless you invest 5 or so tons, will do next to nothing.

Meh... i rather take 3 times the waiting time (since i have at max a 1 minute one) for the ability to test out how medium mechs REALLY do these days.

But seeing as i am sure we have some people who right now are trying to figure out a way to overload the MM just to avoid having their Lyran scout lances taken away from them. My prediction is that the first few hours will be rocky to say the least

Small groups of 4 or less will still lose in PuG matches comprised of 16 lone wolves, but will decry "We faced a 12man premade with 2 other 4mans, it was unfair."

A small portion of the jump jetting community will be killed by legging for the next few days.

Post about nerfing basic, default zoom on all mechs will be heard.

...oh and Urbanmech release.....

Anyone batting for FedCom will receive a complete overhaul of their Mechs. Sword and fist decals. Red, yellow, orange and blue paints aplenty with matching patriotic camo schemes. Increased hardpoints. Improved heat sinks. Increased ammo per ton with each ton of ammo having built in C.A.S.E II. You know, the usual.

All Davions will also recieve the New Avalon Institute of Science experimental targeting computer built into their Mechs. This will allow them to equip ballistics to any hardpoint type, deal four times as much damage with each ballistic round for half the heat and at twice the re-fire right. All to match lore of course......my lore anyway.....

I sense lots of crying non-Jumpjet mechs. They have no way to mitigate the fall damage of dropping down a cliff.

Yep. A 5 meter fall will damage your legs. A Centurion is 14 meters tall.

Nice to see that PGI has a sense of scale.

No, it stands for New Avalon Institute of Science, bl**dy Clanners don't even understand basic initialisation. No wonder they don't know who's side they're on and are just shooting everything that moves. What this next patch really needs is an injection of tea dispensers into every Clan Mech, get some moral fiber in the b*gg*rs. Won't be as good as brewing your own tea in a pot like all FedCommies are trained for but it'll have to do.

I do not think its going to have a huge affect on jump sniping. The elite players that do it are the ones that adapt quickly. They will either take more jump jets or go to hill humping snipers if PGI making jumping not viable at all.

Well there playing with the matchmaker, so good odds on longer waits for matches (if not totally being unable to find one).
Maybe some agility nerfs to the Timber Wolf, since the S variant can jump snipe now and we learned from the Victor that means you must lose agility in brawling (while leaving it very capable of poptarting which is what people complain about). Maybe it will turn like a Dire Wolf now .

This... messed up match-maker, nerfed brawling, and more powerful jump-sniping thanks to falling damage increases. Also, they'll probably break something else at random... maybe all mechs will start in 3rd person mode, all your weapon groups will be forgotten again, etc.

While I'm impressed with the Clan Mechs, I'm underwhelmed with the attempts to "balance" the game, particularly with regard to jump-sniping.

PGI, just stop nerfing non JJ mechs already.

Just. Just Stop.
My prediction.
Being able to leg yourself for hopping down the wrong slope on alpine in a 65 tonner.

Canyon will become even more of a joke map than it already is as everyone crowds for the elbow of doom since it's the only gentle slope area except the center ramps.
Only the animals... I mean pugs only know of the elbow's existence.

The amount of jump jet equipped mechs will increase dramatically since they can feather the landings.

PGI won't understand why there are more JJ than ever, and increase falling damage even more.

what I don't get is clans get targeting computers that make their weapons even longer range and IS get a command console which just gives you zoom and sensor info...

why do clans need longer range stuff? their stuff is already WAY long range as it is. (cept smalls)

i also really really hope they don't make IS ACs burst fire... it is definitely a good balance with IS having non-burst vs the clans.
