Just doing some testing with the new patch and fall damage... noticed that collision damage is on but only affects the legs? Is that by design and working as intended?

I ask because my natural instinct would be that the mech component hitting like an arm or torso section would take the damage, not only the leg respective to the side of the mech making contact with the other.

ETA: Did the notes have something and I missed it about how they scale collision damage? Where is the threshold for speed that contact starts doing damage? If for example I am stationary and someone runs into me, do I take damage as well?

Just looking for some clarification so I can try to avoid it.

There was no documented change to the collision-system (If you can call it that...) in ages.
The legs being damaged by collisions is how it has been for a long time.

Here are some tips on how to avoid it:
-don't bump into stuff
-don't bump into stuff
and, very important:
-don't bump into stuff

Really, it seems like it is more substantial than before. I fact I honestly cannot tell you I ever noticed taking collision damage before now but I typically do not run into people on purpose.

I do know previously I had jumped and stood on another mech without taking damage. :(

there is definitely a change in collision. It has always been there but it seems that when you run into another mech at speed you do leg damage to that mech that seems equivalent to fall damage.

That is what I am seeing as well. I tested it in the testing ground a bit to be sure. Appears they do the same or very close to the same damage. Which would make sense since they are essentially the same mechanic when your mech strikes something else.. be it ground, terrain, or another mech.

When I am running my commando and run into a larger mech (read as a cicada and up) I have damaged my center torso. Maybe because the commando is so much smaller than everything else?

Every time at the start of a match when we are headed out of the gate, especially on Forest Colony, I get bumped by a heavy or assault in one of my mediums or lights and now either or / both my arm and leg shows damage. Been like this for ages.

The only new thing that I've noticed is taking CT damage now from collisions. THAT didn't happen before.
