Everything else in the game is in the metric system, right?

Speed, weapon range, etc.

So, why is the fall rate not in meters per second...?

I think its safe to say that (most) that live in the U.S. already embrace the metric system. There is no need to spoon feed.

Meh just go with the erroneous 3ft = 1m. It's not exactly 3 feet to the meter, but it's close enough.

Especially when the distance on your crosshair is measured in meters. You should be able to look at the floor and think "Hmmm can I make that jump without significant damage?" Not have to take out your slide rule and abacus and do calculations to and from meters to feet in the middle of battle

Yeah i too was amazed by this strange turn to this old usage they stil have in a few countries.

The same with the usage of flags in the cockpit, there don't seem to be any countries in the Mech realm.

Multi / Dividing by 3 should hardly call for anything more than 1/10 of a second of metal math.....but it is pretty ********.

Could just substitute the ft/s symbol for kph, like the normal speed indicator. it's close enough.

But of course introducing backward imperial units in battletech is an outrage!

You know you bring up a good point. Everything in this game is in the metric system if there is a system at all. Having falls measured in ft/s seems silly.

1 inch equals 2.54 cm

I still prefer feet and inches

I'm just so pre decimal must be an anti Roman thing :(

The speeds are in kilometers/hour, the distances are in meters, why would the fall indicator use anything else than the metric system?

This isn't coherent, the game can't use both systems at once.

they should introduce a completely new unit of measurement

like youre falling at a rate of 10 kerenskies per exodus (k/e)

that would be awesome. lol.

They are canadian they can do what they like i guess. I will admit it is a bit weird but would you rather see 30ft/s or ~9.144 m/s. I know I can understand the falling speeds better in the ft/s given in physics this is what we used when calculating velocity and it gives me a better reference. my .02

Yeah, having ft/s in the game doesn't make sense from a gameplay point of view, or from a lore point of view.
