Hi guys, the Hood on clan mechs is supposed to act as a shield from LRMs, not as a big "there's no way to get into cover with this thing strapped on my back" LRM damage magnet straight to the CT.

Can you guys please implement the correct function for that? Otherwise the "walking barn" design makes no sense in the current game.

I guess that's what that does in lore, but this is a game. Can you not see how more powerful that would make clan mechs with hoodies?

They would just shrug LRM fire like nothing, walk right up to the LRM boat and 2 shot kill the mech.

Does anyone have a graphic showing the torso assignments of the top of the hood on the Adder and Direwolf / possibly the Warhawk? I was thinking that it would be a really huge target for IS LRMs which have more of a downward trajectory and I'm interested to see if it is spread across all torsos or just the center torso.

Almost all lore content would work out fine in MWO, if they just enforced or encouraged bloody Clan fighting conditons and rules of warfare. Imagine they would offer special C-Bills/XP (or some sort of Clan honor points) if you manage to taunt an IS opponent into a duel. Yes, people would probably troll this somehow, but it could add an interesting option to the very stale gameplay. Imagine IS and Clan mechs drop as opponents! Not in the same team, I just don't know where this stupidly stupid idea came from. This is like offering a wargame about WWII where German and French troops fight side by side against German and French troops! Imagine the Clan team would be limited to maybe 60% the tonnage or number of mechs the IS team has. The Matchmaker can be tuned to balance these fights. I hope this will come, at least after Tukkayid, which would mean at least waiting another year...

They could alter the mechs to make the hoods function as they were originally intended. Make the hood a separate hitbox with (mech tonnage x .5) internal structure and no armor. The hood of a Dire Wolf would then provide the ability to absorb 50 damage before transferring 75%(?) of damage taken to other components (probably CT) with the current damage transfer mechanics. The Adder would get 17.5 structure health in the hood using that system to help keep that slow light alive.

They could even create 3 hood hitboxes, 1 for each torso section (with less structural health for each), with damage transfer to the corresponding torso section after hood destruction. Hood structural health, damage transfer % (if not a global variable), and which component(s) damage is transferred to after hood destruction could be tweaked for balance.

On a side note: has anyone in an MG Spider jumped on the Dire Wolf's landing pad and sandblasted it to death yet? Last time I checked the Spider would only take leg damage from the initial landing unless the larger mech breaks contact temporarily by, for instance, falling off ledges (which now could end up legging the heavier mech).
