If it had been $500 for the whole set of Gold mechs I bet they'd have had a lot more takers.
How many people bought more than one Gold mech? How many of those bought more than 3? 4?

I've seen screenshots of people who have apparently bought all 8, but I doubt many people would have bought more than one. Would be interested to know if multiple Khan's come with multiple Masakari packs.

I am "the devoted" to MWO, as are many others. I simply can't see the value of a 500 dollar skin.
I think PGI should give the devoted badge to players who are ;
Legendary Founders and Phoenix Overlord and Masakari Clan pack owners who have logged in consistently for the last two years, like myself, deserve the Devoted Badge. (Total spend to date 01/07/14 1234.25 AUD /1165.56 US)

Someone around here has a lot of disposable income.
I reckon all the players who didn't buy a Gold Khan mech and rather just purchased the gold paint should be given a "The Smart" badge.

Paying an additional what, 260 for a gold skin and medal over the 240 top price of the Masakari pack... Yeah no that's insane for a digital item that can be reproduced however many times they wanted. There was literally an arbatrary limit put in place on these to make them seem rare.
If gold Khan was 300, I'd have bought it.

So what you are saying is that you want the gold mechs to be 60$... That would hardly make them exclusive now would it.
No i fully defend this move. It is complete fluff and does not affect anyone in the slightest. Heck i´d support a gold version of every mech for say 250$ a pop without the added pack. Seems to be working for Chris Roberts after all =P

And I say they're only exclusive because they decided to copy the code to make them X amount of times.
It's a digital ******* item. There's nothing exclusive about it except the devlopers decided to put a limit on it. Digital content has nothing exclusive about it.
Remember the whole "Exclusive Digital Signed Art" bit... yeah I could easily get a full collection of that from "owners" of the art that decided to simply pass me a copy of the file.
See how easily the idea of exclusive digital content fails?

The point I'm making is it's an arbatrary decision to sell something way above it's price to create point.
You're honestly defending the idea of selling a gold mech for $260 additional over the 240 top tier price point is a good thing?
The main point of my argument here is, they wanted to sell gold khan packs as a way to make more money right? Few people were willing to shell out 500 for a gold mech when that was ALL you were getting [remember, when gold khan was first announced, ALL you were getting was the golden mech, and it's 2 other variants so you could master it, as well as the title badge. THAT'S IT, till we bitched and they made it include the top tier clan pack as well.]
They would have sold a good few more of those packs, if they had simply priced them at $300-$360, a much more affordable prince point that many of us could have justified and would have been willing to buy over the $500 price point that we currently have.
I've probably, over the time MWO's been out, since I bought my founders pack, spent around $1k on this game over all... that's a LOT of money for a singular person to spend on any game. And frankly, I'd have been more than willing to put odwn the 300-360 to get a gold Khan, but given what we recieved in the packs, the addition of a golden mech to my roster is in no way worth the $260 extra over the $240 already spent for the top tier clan pack.
It's a cost vs worth issue. The cost of the Khan pack is not worth the items included, despite their supposed exclusive nature.

Since I don't have to buy it in order play and enjoy game, I don't give a rat's ass how much it costs or who buys it. I considered buying it but the gold skin wasn't enough to justify the extra cost to myself. To some the price point is obviously fine.
