could be because of my ELO, but when i play, i encounter a lot of pop-tarts.
now, usually, for the most part, i am very capable of handling them. and so i dont get bothered by this phenomena.

[i dont understand why one would play in such a boring manner, but whatever, i dont judge]

anyways, i say "usually" because whenever i get on HPG Manifold i get shredded by pop-tarts.
the way that map is set up, its a pure heaven for them popping mechs. so, combine this effect with all the invisible geometry on that map and what do you get? a very poor map (my view).

now, it was to my understanding (though i might be wrong) that the changes in fall damage were supposed to affect that very same poping meta. if that is the case, then it is a big FAIL, since packing 1 JJ will give you enough power to lift, pop and then come down before reaching a velocity of 30 ft/s (y axis - wise) which causes you minimum damage. so with 1 JJ you can still pop and not take any damage.

another thing i surely dont understand is:
z and x axis velocity is measured in the metric system, Kph, why is y-axis measured in ft/s? no-sense in that.

also:
again, could be my ELO, but now that MM has changed, in the group q, i seem to go up against groups of poppers. handling 2 or 3 of them is no biggy and doesnt justify complaining about the meta again on these forums. but. a group of 4 or more pop-tarts is just ridiculous. they almost, ALWAYS win if that is the predicament.

PGI, i hope you noted that the changes you have made to fall damage did not do a thing to reduce the amount of poppers. i still dont know if that was something you were aiming at though.

ok, let me have it... bring on the hurt ;)

It was never going to stop poptarts completely. But now shoot their legs up, they may have damaged them enough on their own where they could be shot off easily.

There's nothing to "get". It was clear since it was announced that the fall damage change would affect anyone BUT poptarts. Just like the scheduled JJ heat will affect anyone BUT poptarts.

I am not saying I am against it, I do find logic in fall damage and I hope it gets tuned to better reflect the mechanic, but whoever thought it would stop poptarts even in the slightest, was deluding themselves.

Me too. It seems like since the clans have dropped, more people are running high alpha pop tart IS mechs. I think it is a counter to how well the Clan mechs can brawl and soak up damage (players in IS mech now feel like they need high pinpoint damage more than ever).

Not sure if that is it, but it has made piloting my heavier and slower mechs more challenging as of late.

I have also noticed LRMs being used a lot more too.
