I just received leg damage just walking to the fight in a DireWolf after dropping maybe 1meter. I can see why this was put in but getting damage from just walking around is utter BS and needs to be looked at

I doubt it. You probably walked off an edge.

You fell a FOOT in game? What a blatant outright lie.

When walking the leg on the DW goes higher than 6 feet in the bloody air.

Edit: He did say 1 foot, now it's 3.3 ft....which is nothing...half the man in the picture....the mech lifts its feet higher.

I can understand getting damage from falling off a ledge. But the comments about lights hitting a pebble and getting damaged because it causes enough lift to trigger fall damage is quite absurd.

the problem is they didnt make it so forward movement speed was treated seperate from falling speed.

so if your running at 100kph and get some air over a step a portion of that forward speed will be treated as your falling speed as far as damage is concerned.

The "minimum time to fall before damage" threshold doesn't seem to be working. You're not supposed to take damage from <1 second fall duration. 1 second is a reasonably long time; if that number is actually correct, you could fall off of most mountains and not take damage (gravity appears to be much stronger in MWO-land; in real-life you'd only fall 5 meters).

did some testing and were able to drop almost the height of the mech so the map must have been to blame for the error.

Its kinda stupid when i receive massive leg damage in my brawler timb with only 1 jumpjet. Really nice, lost leg already every time, 50% was from jumping 2m in the air.... Whileee with my timertard with 2 jumpjets im getting less cause i can soft fall, really nice...

You're not even going 150kph in that lol.

Also, why in the world are you even going in the air for that kind of 'jump'? There are other angles there that *will* cause you to take fall damage, unnecessarily.

Or, you could put a second JJ on your brawler? Problem solved. Which as he said, was kinda the point.

on crimson strait, I walked off the ledge by the tunnel looking at the over pass think I must have been at full throttle 48kph in my Daishi. and took leg damage. you have to remember that forward velocity, I guess if it is more than half your maximum speed, you are more likely going to take damage, from stepping off a ledge, going down a mountain. so if you don't have jump jets there is no way to stop the sudden drop speed to cause damage. now where is my DWF-S ;)

SO you are calling for discrimination against JJ mechs? Your mech shouldn't take damage from that fall, but my Firestarter should?

This JJ envy is going to divide the community!!!! ;)

I got falling damage last night on Alpine as I was running across the boulders and 'fell' off one. Didn't even hit my JJs. Lost 3% of my health and fell maybe half the height of my shins.

Mechs are supposed to be BETTER than conventional vehicles, and a dune buggy can make that fall without taking damage. 'Well a dune buggy doesn't weight blah blah tons...' You're right, they don't. So an M1A2 Abrams tank has a better suspension system than a mech lighter than it? 70 tons loaded and up armored for urban, and it can still take rough terrain better than my Wolverine?

As with all changes PGI makes, they went waaaaaaayyyyyyy ttttooooooooo faaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrr with the concept of fall / leg impact damage. Recommend they cut damage back by 50% and rework the height above ground mechanic entirely.
